Position Summary

SHB is seeking an experienced Senior Quality Engineer to lead customer quality performance for North America. This role serves as the technical leader for customer issue resolution, ensuring investigations, root cause analyses, containment activities, and corrective actions meet the expectations of North American automotive OEMs. The successful candidate will work closely with engineering, manufacturing, suppliers, and SHB's global teams to drive timely, technically sound, and permanent problem resolution.

Key Responsibilities

·      Lead customer quality issue resolution from initial containment through verified permanent corrective action.

·      Serve as the primary North American quality representative for customer concerns and escalations.

·      Own the technical quality and completeness of 8D reports before submission to customers.

·      Challenge root cause hypotheses using facts, data, testing, and engineering logic rather than assumptions.

·      Identify gaps in investigations and require additional validation where evidence is insufficient.

·      Drive cross-functional teams in North America and China to achieve robust, permanent corrective actions.

·      Ensure containment, corrective actions, and implementation meet customer timing commitments.

·      Partner with engineering and manufacturing to reduce recurring quality issues.

·      Support APQP, PPAP, launches, audits, supplier quality, and customer-specific requirements.

·      Train and mentor others on structured problem-solving methodologies.

·      Travel domestically and internationally as required.

Qualifications

·      Bachelor's degree in Engineering or other technical discipline preferred.

·      10+ years of automotive quality engineering experience.

·      Strong experience with OEM customer quality (Ford, GM, Stellantis, Toyota, etc.).

·      Expert knowledge of 8D, 5-Why, Fishbone, FMEA, PPAP, APQP, MSA, SPC and AIAG Core Tools.

·      Demonstrated ability to lead complex root cause investigations and corrective action implementation.

·      Ability to evaluate technical evidence, ask probing questions, and influence global engineering teams.

·      Excellent project management, communication, and customer-facing skills.

·      Experience with electric motors or electromechanical products is a plus.

·      Chinese and/or Spanish language skills are a plus.

Position Details

This is a hybrid position based in Farmington Hills, Michigan. Local travel and occasional domestic and international travel are required.
