About the role

HOMA ENGINEERING (M) SDN BHD is seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our dynamic surveying team. This is a full-time position based in Kuala Lumpur City Centre, Kuala Lumpur. As Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will play a pivotal role in managing and overseeing all quantity surveying activities on major construction projects. This position is strategically important to our organisation, ensuring accurate cost management, financial planning and contractual compliance across our portfolio of construction initiatives. You will be responsible for delivering high-quality quantity surveying services that drive project profitability and client satisfaction whilst maintaining the highest professional standards.

What you'll be doing

• Preparing detailed cost estimates, bills of quantities and tender documentation for construction projects at various stages
• Managing project budgets and providing accurate financial forecasting and cost control throughout project lifecycles
• Conducting site measurements, surveys and inspections to verify work progress and ensure compliance with contract specifications
• Negotiating and agreeing final accounts with contractors, subcontractors and clients to resolve contractual disputes and variations
• Preparing variation orders, interim payment certificates and progress reports for project stakeholders
• Reviewing and analysing tender submissions from contractors, providing recommendations based on cost and value assessments
• Liaising with project managers, engineers, architects and clients to ensure seamless communication and alignment on project financial matters
• Mentoring and supervising junior quantity surveyors and support staff within the team
• Ensuring compliance with relevant Malaysian construction industry standards, regulations and professional guidelines
• Utilising quantity surveying software and industry-standard digital tools to enhance accuracy and efficiency

What we're looking for

• Professional qualification in Quantity Surveying or related construction discipline (degree or diploma)
• Membership or eligibility for membership with a recognised professional body such as AIQS (Australian Institute of Quantity Surveyors), RICS (Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors) or equivalent Malaysian professional body
• Minimum 8-10 years of post-qualification experience in quantity surveying within the construction industry
• Extensive experience in preparing bills of quantities, cost estimates and tender documentation
• Proven track record in cost management, budget control and final account negotiations on substantial construction projects
• Strong proficiency with quantity surveying software and digital measurement tools
• Comprehensive knowledge of construction contracts, procurement processes and contractual obligations
• Excellent analytical and mathematical skills with meticulous attention to detail
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders
• Leadership capabilities and experience in managing and developing team members
• Familiarity with Malaysian construction industry practices, Building Information Modelling (BIM) and contemporary surveying methodologies is highly desirable
