Desert Group is looking for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our team and support the commercial management of swimming pool and landscape construction projects.

Job Summary/ Purpose:

Responsible for post contract quantity surveying activities which includes preparing and compiling variation claim documents with all relevant substantiations to the satisfaction of the project team and client. Preparing payment applications / progress payment claims against value of work done for measured works, variations/change orders, material on-site/off-site, contractual letters, provision sum and prime cost adjustment as per contract.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Contract Documentation and Administration

· Prepare contract documents and liaise with client team to finalize the contract in allowed time frame

· Attend post -contract meetings, liaise with all parties and ensure timely completion of agreed actions

· Request necessary bonds, warranties, insurances, undertakings, etc. until final discharge of obligations

· Preparation and issue of contractual letters to clients and / or sub-contractors

· Maintain contract documentation and advise on pre tender and post contract matters

· Provide advice on contractual claims to concern project Manager

2. Project Financial Control and Reporting

· Prepare and provide the project allowable (materials, Labour, plant, supervision, sub contract) to project team

· Carry out reconciliation of cost and value to date/forecast to keep the management team informed of project performance

· Project Cash Flow forecasting

· track changes to the design and/or construction work and adjusting budget projections accordingly

· Monitor and control costs throughout the project

· Preparation cost to complete (CTC) report for management reviewing

3. Progress Invoice and Final Account

· Visit site to measure and value works completed.

· Preparation of monthly project valuations and preparation of interim valuations &project final account

· Follow up for payment certificates and payments from clients

4. Variation

· Detect variations and changes to the contract in liaison with the project team and prepare, submit, negotiate, follow up on variations and finalize

5. Sub- Contractor Commercial Management

· Identify the subcontract element and float inquiry for obtaining quotation, review the quotation and prepare a comparison report to finalize the subcontractor including all necessary negotiations and problem resolutions

· Prepare sub-contract order in line with contract requirement and company's standard procedures

· Certification of sub-contractor’s interim valuations and negotiation of variations & settlement of subcontractor final account

6. General

· Work closely with head office and site management staff to support the smooth running of the office and the site, carrying out other duties as required.

· Attends weekly meeting with project team and participates in all contractual aspects of projects, including claims, final accounts, and variations

· Perform all other duties as assigned by the Commercial Manager/ Project Manager/ General Manager

Functional / Technical Competencies

· Proficient in AutoCAD, Primavera

· Knowledge of FIDIC and type of contracts

· Working knowledge of CANDY

Skills, Experience & Educational Requirements:

· 12 years of experience in the swimming pool construction/ landscape

· Civil Engineering Degree/ HSN in Quantity Surveying

· Excellent communication skills both written and verbal

· Planning and negotiation skills

· Must be able to demonstrate a high level of trust and confidentiality

· Bold personality and proactive approach
