What they need
My client is an Irish construction contractor headquartered in North Dublin, delivering large infrastructure projects nationwide and is in a serious growth phase.
The Opportunity
This is a hands-on senior role for a QS who wants real ownership, not a seat in a large commercial team. You will run the commercial side of major projects from tender through to final account, protect margin, and help shape how their commercial function scales as turnover grows.
For the right person, there is a clear line of sight to a leadership role as the commercial team expands.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the commercial management of large infrastructure projects from pre-contract through to final account.
- Prepare and review estimates, tenders and cost plans, and support bid strategy.
- Manage contracts under NEC, PW-CF and other public works forms, including notices, compensation events and claims.
- Own monthly cost value reconciliations (CVRs), cash flow forecasts and margin reporting.
- Procure, negotiate and manage subcontract packages, valuations and final accounts.
- Identify commercial risk and opportunity early and drive change control.
- Prepare interim applications and agree valuations with clients and their representatives.
- Mentor and develop junior and intermediate QSs.
- Work closely with project managers, engineers and the Commercial Director on project performance.
What You Will Bring
- A degree in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline; MSCSI or MRICS chartered status is an advantage.
- 5+ years' post-qualification QS experience, ideally with a main contractor in Ireland
- A strong track record on civil engineering or infrastructure projects in Ireland.
- Hands-on experience with NEC and Irish public works contracts.
- Confident CVR, forecasting and final account skills, with a commercial eye on margin.
- Experience managing subcontractors and leading commercial negotiations.
- The ability to lead and develop a small team.
- Full driving license and flexibility to travel to sites across Ireland.
What's on Offer
- A competitive salary and package
- Ownership of major infrastructure projects, with real influence on commercial outcomes
- A growing Irish contractor where good people are noticed and progress quickly
- An excellent, people first culture
