Senior R&D Engineer

Key Responsibilities

• Process R&D: Plan and execute systematic experiments to develop and optimize either:
• Atomic-scale polishing processes for large-size diamond wafers; Or Wafer bonding technologies for diamond and other semiconductor materials.
• Theoretical Simulation: Conduct advanced simulations (e.g., MD, DFT) to investigate material behavior, surface/interface evolution, and underlying physical mechanisms.
• Process Optimization: Design Experiments (DOE), analyze data, and establish optimal process windows to enhance throughput, processing quality, and yield stability.
• Problem Solving & Innovation: Identify technical bottlenecks and propose innovative solutions for diamond polishing or bonding technologies, specifically applied to advanced thermal management.
• Tech Transfer: Drive technology scaling from lab-scale setup to prototype development, ensuring high reproducibility and process robustness.
• Cross-functional Collaboration: Partner closely with professors, researchers, and PhD candidates to achieve project milestones and integrate core research findings.

Requirements

• Education: Ph.D. in Materials Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechanics, or a related discipline (or candidates expected to defend their thesis within one year).

• Research Expertise: Hands-on experience in ultra-precision polishing/energy-beam-assisted machining, molecular dynamics (MD)/first-principles simulations, or heterogeneous material integration.

• Relevance: Doctoral thesis directly aligned with the specified research directions.

• Publication Track Record: Proven track record with high-impact SCI publications in relevant fields is preferred.

• Technical Skills: Practical expertise in equipment setup and ultra-precision polishing hardware is a strong plus.

• Work Ethic: Highly self-motivated, with the ability to conduct independent research within a structured R&D environment.

• Leadership & Collaboration: Strong track record in project coordination, interdisciplinary collaboration, and contributing to complex R&D initiatives involving material or equipment development.

• Execution: Dedicated to rigorous, systematic research and fully committed to fulfilling all project deliverables under the research center framework.

• Language Proficiency: Excellent written and oral communication skills in both English and Chinese.

• Legal Eligibility: Must be legally eligible to work in Hong Kong or qualified to apply for an appropriate work visa.
