Your greatest work is ahead!

Leidos' Power Delivery Solutions (PDS) division is hiring a Senior Relay Settings Engineer to join our diverse and fast-paced organization. As a core team member, you will be interacting with other electric utility disciplines, playing a valuable part in leading and designing utility substation and renewable energy projects.

Location: This position is open to fully remote. If an office environment is preferred, a hybrid schedule from a Leidos office location may be considered.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Prepare relay settings from 4.16kV through 500kV including relay set points, logic diagrams, configuration files and documentation.
  • Collaborate with protection engineers and perform quality reviews on relay setting packages.
  • Support a full range of project planning activities through design and construction support.
  • Work directly with clients as well as other staff in remote office locations.
  • Solve challenging substation engineering problems.

What does Leidos need from me?

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) from an ABET accredited institution or BSEE and a PE License.
  • Minimum of four plus years of relevant experience such as power system protection, developing relay settings, creating logic diagrams, etc.
  • Capable of understanding Aspen OneLiner / Siemens CAPE for coordination and fault studies.
  • Experience in preparing high-quality technical reports for protective relay settings and related studies.
  • Ability to develop relay settings for various relays including: SEL, Alstom, GE, ABB, and others.
  • Deep understanding of transmission line protection schemes (e.g., line differential, step distance, pilot, etc.) and substation protection schemes (e.g., capacitor, transformer, bus, etc.).
  • Experience in interpreting schematics and wiring diagrams.
  • High attention to detail with a passion for quality.
  • Strong engineering and interpersonal skills with an ability to effectively work in a fast-paced team environment.
  • Willingness and ability to travel overnight to customer sites, in-office, or testing lab on occasional basis.

Favorable if you have:

  • Experience with North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) compliance standards.
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Professional Engineer (PE) License.
  • Familiarity with Schweitzer AcSELerator QuickSet, General Electric EnerVista, or Schneider Electric MiCOM.
