What they need
About the role
The Senior Reservoir Engineer leads reservoir engineering studies and provides technical direction on reservoir performance optimisation, reserves estimation, and field development planning to maximise production and asset value. This role covers numerical reservoir simulation, material balance, decline curve analysis, and integrated reservoir management for both mature and new field developments, working closely with geoscience, drilling, production, and asset management teams. The Senior Reservoir Engineer also mentors junior engineers and may lead or contribute to multi-disciplinary field studies.
Key responsibilities
- Lead reservoir engineering studies using state-of-the-art techniques, including numerical reservoir simulation (e.g. Eclipse or equivalent), material balance, decline curve analysis, well test analysis, and PVT/SCAL data analysis.
- Build, history-match, and maintain reservoir simulation models to support field development and depletion planning.
- Design and evaluate waterflood/gasflood schemes, voidage replacement strategies, and enhanced oil recovery (EOR) options.
- Conduct uncertainty and risk analysis on reservoir performance forecasts and development scenarios.
- Estimate and evaluate reserves and resources in accordance with PRMS classification and booking guidelines.
- Prepare quarterly and annual reserves movement reports and support reserves audits/reviews.
- Lead the preparation of field development plans (FDPs), infill drilling proposals, and mature field redevelopment studies.
- Identify data acquisition requirements to monitor reservoir performance and support surveillance programmes.
- Integrate production and reservoir engineering data to inform depletion planning and reservoir management strategies.
- Provide technical direction and mentoring to junior reservoir engineers within the team.
About you
- Bachelor's or master's degree in petroleum engineering, Reservoir Engineering, or a related discipline.
- 10–15+ years of experience as a Reservoir Engineer in the oil & gas industry, with a track record of leading studies and mentoring junior staff.
- Significant experience with numerical reservoir simulation software (e.g. Eclipse or equivalent).
- Proven expertise in history matching, forecasting, field development planning, and reservoir monitoring/surveillance.
- Strong knowledge of mature field redevelopment, waterflood operations, and EOR methods.
- Expertise in decline analysis, resource evaluation, PRMS classification, and reserves booking.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to work independently and lead technical discussions.
