What they need

Brunel is partnering with an established gold mining company to recruit an experienced Senior Resource Geologist for its Perth corporate office.

This is an opportunity for a technically capable geologist to play an important role in the development, validation and ongoing improvement of Mineral Resource Estimates across a portfolio of operating assets.

Reporting to the Resource Development Manager, you will work closely with site geology, mining and technical teams to ensure resource models are accurate, reliable and effectively support operational and long-term mine planning decisions.

With occasional travel to site, this position offers the opportunity to remain connected to mining operations while being based in Perth.

Description

As Senior Resource Geologist, you will be responsible for:

  • Developing and maintaining 3D geological models and Mineral Resource Estimates.
  • Undertaking resource estimation, model validation and geological interpretation.
  • Reviewing and improving resource models to support operational and long-term planning requirements.
  • Working closely with site geology teams on grade control, resource definition drilling and QA/QC programs.
  • Investigating reconciliation between resource models, grade control models and actual production results.
  • Identifying geological uncertainty and communicating associated risks to key stakeholders.
  • Providing technical input into mine extension projects, budgeting, forecasting and life-of-mine planning.
  • Supporting resource reporting and maintaining geological modelling and estimation processes.

Profile

To be successful, you will ideally bring:

  • A tertiary qualification in Geology, Geoscience or a related discipline.
  • Experience in mining or exploration geology, ideally within gold operations.
  • Hands-on experience in geological resource modelling and Mineral Resource Estimation.
  • Strong knowledge of geostatistics and resource estimation techniques, including linear estimation methods.
  • Experience with geological modelling and estimation software, ideally Datamine or Leapfrog.
  • Demonstrated experience in resource model validation, reconciliation and geological interpretation.
  • Strong understanding of drilling, sampling, QA/QC and analytical procedures.
  • Knowledge of Western Australian gold deposits and geological mineralisation controls.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate with technical and operational teams.

Experience with recoverable resource estimation, nonlinear estimation methods or conditional simulation would be highly regarded.

Job Offer

  • Permanent, Perth-based corporate position.
  • Exposure to multiple WA gold mining operations.
  • Opportunity to take ownership of technically challenging resource estimation work.
  • Direct collaboration with senior technical leadership and operational geology teams.
  • A role where your geological expertise contributes directly to production performance and future resource development.
  • Occasional site travel rather than a regular FIFO roster.
