What they need

We're looking for a warm, commercial and creative Senior Retail Manager to lead our Aylesford Superstore.

Heart of Kent Hospice is looking for an experienced Senior Retail Manager to lead our flagship Aylesford Superstore on Hall Road — our largest shop and a much-loved local destination for pre-loved fashion, furniture, homeware, books, electricals and those one-off treasures customers love to discover.

This is a brilliant opportunity for someone who enjoys the pace and variety of large-format retail, loves bringing people together, and wants their commercial skills to make a real difference to local hospice care. You’ll lead a busy, multi-department site, support a large team of paid colleagues and volunteers, and create an inspiring shopping experience for customers, donors and the wider community.

Senior Retail Manager — Flagship Site

Location: Aylesford Superstore, Hall Road
Hours: Full time, 37.5 hours per week, including regular Saturday working and scheduled Sunday and bank holiday cover
Salary: c£32,000, dependent on experience

Closing Date: 28 August 2026 - We will be accepting applications and interviewing on a rolling basis and the vacancy may be withdrawn before the closing date if a suitable candidate is found.

· You’ll take ownership of sales, stock, standards, customer experience and the day-to-day running of a substantial flagship retail site.

· You’ll lead, motivate and develop paid colleagues and a large volunteer team, creating a welcoming culture where people feel valued and proud to contribute.

· You’ll make the most of every donation, from furniture and homeware to vintage, designer and specialist items, working closely with our e-commerce team to maximise income.

· You’ll bring creativity to the shop floor through strong visual merchandising, seasonal displays, pop-up events and local promotions that encourage customers to visit, browse and return.

· You’ll be a visible ambassador for Heart of Kent Hospice, building relationships in the community and helping more people understand the difference our shops make.

We’d love to hear from you if you have strong retail management experience, a great eye for presentation and value, and the confidence to lead a busy team in a fast-moving environment. You’ll be commercially minded, organised and creative, with the warmth and people skills to support colleagues, volunteers, donors and customers with care and respect.

At Heart of Kent Hospice, our values — I own, I care, I learn and I improve — shape the way we work every day. If you’re ready to lead a flagship shop with energy, kindness and ambition, and you want your retail career to support compassionate care across our local community, we’d be delighted to hear from you.

We are proud to be a Forces Family Friendly employer and hold the Bronze Award within the Armed Forces Covenant Employer Recognition Scheme. We warmly welcome applications from ex‑Armed Forces personnel, reservists, veterans, and military spouses or partners.

We are committed to promoting equality, diversity, and inclusive practice across both employment and patient care. As a Disability Confident Leader, we encourage applications from people living with disabilities and are dedicated to providing reasonable adjustments to support colleagues to thrive in their roles.

If you’re passionate about our cause consider joining our team.
