Willo®

About Willo
Willo helps hiring teams screen and assess candidates more effectively. We work with organisations looking to improve their hiring processes, reduce time spent on manual screening and make better-informed shortlisting decisions.
About the role
Already generating results as an SDR or BDR and ready for more ownership? We’re looking for an experienced outbound sales professional to create qualified demos and new-business opportunities for our Account Executives.
This is a hands-on, phone-led role. You’ll research prospects, build targeted contact lists, create and run email sequences, make cold calls and turn prospect engagement into meaningful sales conversations.
You won’t simply be working through somebody else’s campaigns. Working with our sales team, you’ll take ownership of developing your outreach, executing it consistently and improving the results.
This is not an entry-level position.
You should already have experience generating opportunities through outbound sales, be comfortable making cold calls every day and be able to demonstrate your performance against targets.
Alongside this, you’ll have a pathway towards becoming an Account Executive, developing the skills needed to take ownership of opportunities beyond the initial meeting.
What you’ll do
Research prospects and build targeted lists
Identify companies and decision-makers that match Willo’s agreed target customer profile. Research their hiring activity and potential challenges, enrich contact information and build relevant prospect lists for your own outreach and the wider sales team. Work with both our existing database and new prospects you identify.
Make cold calling a core part of your day
Proactively call prospects, open conversations, ask relevant questions and identify hiring challenges that Willo could help address. Handle objections, communicate value and secure qualified demos. You’ll combine consistent calling activity with thoughtful preparation and relevant messaging.
Create and manage outbound email sequences
Write, build and run targeted sequences for different industries, stakeholders and hiring needs. Personalise your approach, test different messages and improve campaigns based on the conversations and opportunities they generate.
Recognise engagement and follow up effectively
Monitor replies and meaningful engagement signals to prioritise timely, personalised follow-up. Combine email, telephone and other relevant outreach to move conversations forward, while continuing to proactively call prospects who haven’t yet engaged.
Book qualified demos and provide clear handovers
Generate meetings across our Account Executive team. Establish initial customer fit, engage relevant stakeholders and capture the prospect’s hiring challenges and reasons for exploring Willo. Confirm meeting arrangements, follow up on missed meetings and give the AE useful context before the demo.
Own your activity, data and improvement
Keep accurate contact records, outreach activity and next steps in HubSpot. Review the effectiveness of your targeting, messaging and calls, and use feedback from the sales team to improve the quality and consistency of the opportunities you create.
What you’ll bring
Proven outbound sales experience
You’ve already worked as an SDR, BDR or in a comparable outbound business-development role. You can explain the targets you’ve worked towards, the results you’ve achieved and how your own activity generated meetings and opportunities.
Confidence and effectiveness on the telephone
You’re comfortable cold calling regularly, starting conversations with unfamiliar prospects, handling objections and earning the next conversation.
Practical campaign-building skills
You can research accounts, identify relevant contacts, build prospect lists and write and manage email sequences. Your experience goes beyond sending campaigns that someone else has created.
Organisation and accountability
You can plan your activity, prioritise follow-up, maintain accurate CRM records and work consistently towards a target. You take ownership of your results and adjust your approach when something isn’t working.
An understanding of hiring
Experience in hiring technology, HR technology or recruitment software would be particularly valuable. You may also have gained relevant hiring knowledge by working as a recruiter and using recruitment software yourself.
In either case, you must also bring proven experience in an SDR, BDR or equivalent outbound sales role
, including cold calling, targeted outreach and generating qualified meetings.
Confidence with sales tools
You’re comfortable using technology to research prospects, build contact lists, manage email sequences and improve your outreach. Our toolkit includes
HubSpot, FullEnrich, ChatGPT and Gong
. Experience with these specific platforms is desirable, but we also welcome candidates who have used comparable tools.
What success looks like
You’ll work towards a clear demo-booking target, with performance also assessed through qualified demo attendance, the opportunities accepted by Account Executives and the pipeline your outreach creates.
The focus is on relevant new-business prospects suited to Willo’s Enterprise annual offering—not simply filling calendars. You’ll own prospecting and initial engagement, while the Account Executive will conduct the demo and confirm whether the opportunity meets our sales-qualification criteria.
Your targets, qualification criteria and how performance is measured will be clearly defined from the outset.
What you can expect
Ownership of your outbound approach.
An opportunity to build campaigns, test approaches and directly contribute to the sales team’s pipeline, with the support and feedback to keep improving.
Uncapped commission.
A base salary plus uncapped commission that rewards qualified attended demos, sales-qualified opportunities and Closed Won business sourced through your activity.
Support to develop your sales career.
Work closely with our Account Executives, learn from their experience and receive coaching and feedback to strengthen your outbound performance and develop your broader sales skills.
Your pathway to Account Executive
At Willo, you’ll have the opportunity to learn how to become an Account Executive—not just how to book the meeting.
Alongside your outbound responsibilities, we’ll support your development in discovery, product demonstrations, opportunity qualification and managing the sales process. You’ll build the skills and confidence needed to take ownership of opportunities and close business.
We offer a pathway from Senior SDR to Account Executive, with progression based on sustained performance and demonstrated readiness for the next role.
Your development goals and next steps will be discussed regularly, so you understand what you’re working towards and where to focus your development.
