Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Senior Salesforce Developer to support the development, maintenance, optimization, and enhancement of a large-scale Salesforce platform supporting statewide public health programs.

The successful candidate will help maintain a secure, stable, scalable, and compliant Salesforce environment. This role will lead technical initiatives, enhance integrations, modernize business processes, support enterprise applications, and provide technical guidance and knowledge transfer to internal teams.

Key Responsibilities

Application Support and Maintenance

• Provide advanced troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and resolution for Salesforce platform issues, including Salesforce core, Experience Cloud, integrations, and custom components.
• Monitor system jobs, logs, APIs, errors, governor limits, and overall platform performance.
• Develop and maintain runbooks, standard operating procedures, data dictionaries, workflow documentation, and system configuration documentation.
• Perform proactive maintenance, technical debt reduction, refactoring, performance tuning, and security remediation.

Development and Modernization

• Design and develop Salesforce solutions using Apex, Lightning Web Components (LWC), Flows, permission models, and Salesforce data structures.
• Conduct code reviews and promote secure coding practices, automated testing, and development standards.
• Manage application releases across Development, QA, UAT, Staging, and Production environments using CI/CD pipelines and version control.
• Translate business requirements into scalable, maintainable, and compliant technical solutions.

Integration and Interoperability

• Design, implement, support, and optimize API-based integrations using MuleSoft or similar middleware technologies.
• Support secure data exchange between Salesforce and external reporting, analytics, surveillance, and operational systems.
• Monitor API performance, throughput, rate limits, and errors and implement appropriate resilience and error-handling strategies.
• Maintain integration documentation, interface specifications, data mappings, and versioning strategies.

Security, Compliance, and Governance

• Ensure development and support activities follow cybersecurity, identity governance, secure SDLC, and technology governance requirements.
• Implement and maintain Salesforce security controls, including Field Audit Trail, Event Monitoring, Platform Encryption, MFA, and least-privilege access.
• Support vulnerability remediation, security impact assessments, audits, and architecture reviews.
• Maintain appropriate controls for environment management, data access, logging, encryption, and change management.

Enterprise Platform Operations

• Manage Salesforce sandbox strategy, refresh schedules, and environment alignment.
• Implement monitoring, alerting, observability dashboards, and performance analytics.
• Support backup and restore processes, disaster recovery planning, and failover testing.
• Conduct regular platform health assessments and recommend improvements for stability, scalability, and performance.

Training and Knowledge Transfer

• Develop training materials and programs covering Salesforce administration, configuration, development, and troubleshooting.
• Create architecture diagrams, workflow documentation, deployment guides, operational procedures, and technical standards.
• Mentor technical staff and support knowledge transfer to internal teams.
• Facilitate transition of completed solutions to internal support teams.

Licensing and Platform Strategy

• Maintain knowledge of Salesforce licensing, including core licenses, Experience Cloud, API usage, feature tiers, and associated costs.
• Review license assignments and recommend adjustments based on business and technical requirements.
• Support license forecasting for user growth, new functionality, and future integrations.

Required Qualifications

• 11+ years of professional experience in enterprise application development.
• 7+ years of dedicated Salesforce development experience.
• 5+ years of hands-on experience with Apex, Lightning Web Components, Flows, SOQL/SOSL, and advanced Salesforce configuration.
• 5+ years of experience supporting large and complex Salesforce environments with strict service-level requirements and security standards.
• 5+ years of experience with API design, integration patterns, middleware, and enterprise data exchange.
• 3+ years of experience with security hardening, identity governance, encryption strategies, and auditability in compliance-driven environments.
• 3+ years of experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, environment promotion, version control, and DevOps practices.
• 3+ years of experience creating architecture diagrams, technical design documents, process flows, and operational documentation.
• 3+ years of experience with Salesforce licensing models and platform optimization strategies.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to train, mentor, and transfer technical knowledge to internal teams.

Highly Desired Qualifications

• Advanced Salesforce certifications such as Platform Developer II, Experience Cloud Consultant, Integration Architect, or Identity and Access Management.
• Experience working with public-sector technology, regulated environments, or large-scale system modernization initiatives.
• Experience with observability tools, error monitoring platforms, and secure cloud integration patterns.
• Familiarity with Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices, resilience engineering, and performance benchmarking.
