Senior SAS Developer

We are seeking an experienced, hands-on Senior SAS Developer to join the BLADE team within Treasury Technology, part of our client’s Securitization Technology area. The team delivers and operates the platforms that support the end-to-end lifecycle of securitization transactions, enabling funding, risk transfer, regulatory compliance and reporting for the bank. You will work across the full solution lifecycle — requirements clarification, technical analysis, SAS development, data integration, testing, release implementation and production support — combining deep SAS capability with sound Data Warehouse and banking-data experience.

This is a hands-on role, requiring active participation in solution implementation, including code commits, technical reviews, and close collaboration with engineering teams, in a regulated environment with multiple business and technology stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, enhance and maintain SAS applications, batch processes, ETL workflows, data marts and reporting components used by the platform.

• Translate business, reporting and data requirements into robust technical designs and maintain clear solution documentation.

• Develop and optimize SAS programs using SAS Base / SAS 9.x and, where applicable, SAS Data Integration Studio and SAS Enterprise Guide.

• Integrate, transform and validate data from relational databases and upstream systems using SAS and SQL.

• Investigate data-quality, performance and processing issues; identify root causes and implement sustainable fixes.

• Own developer testing and contribute to system, regression, release and production-validation activities, including evidence and defect resolution.

• Support controlled releases through impact assessment, implementation planning, deployment checks and post-release validation.

• Provide production support for SAS jobs and reporting flows, including incident analysis, recovery, problem management and operational improvements.

• Contribute to modernization and decommissioning activities by analysing dependencies, removing obsolete interfaces or code, and preserving reporting continuity.

• Participate actively in Agile planning, estimation, refinement, peer reviews and delivery governance.

Mandatory Skills Description:

• Strong commercial experience as a SAS Developer, SAS ETL Developer, Data Warehouse Developer or similar hands-on role.

• Advanced practical knowledge of SAS Base and SAS 9.x:

oDATA step processing, procedures, macros, error handling and performance optimization.

oHands-on experience with SAS Data Integration Studio and SAS Enterprise Guide; exposure to SAS metadata and server-based SAS environments.

• Strong SQL skills and experience working with Oracle or comparable enterprise relational databases.

• Experience designing and supporting ETL / data-integration processes, analytical data structures, data marts and Data Warehouse solutions.

• Ability to analyse complex data flows, mappings, dependencies and existing code in a mature or legacy application landscape.

• Practical experience with data reconciliation, data-quality controls, test preparation, defect investigation and regression validation.

• Previous experience supporting business-critical applications in production, with a can-do mind-set and hands-on mentality.

• Good understanding of software-delivery controls, source control (preferably GIT), release management and production-change disciplines.

• Experience in Agile practices.

• Ability to work effectively with senior IT and business stakeholders.

• Excellent communication skills in English.
