What they need

Role Summary

Rivian is seeking a Senior Scheduling Specialist to support overnight production scheduling across General Assembly, Paint, Body, Drive Unit, & Battery manufacturing shops. This role helps maintain a stable production plan by managing production orders, supporting Paint-to-General Assembly sequencing, monitoring execution, and escalating downtime risks quickly and accurately.

The ideal candidate combines manufacturing scheduling or production-control experience with strong systems, data, communication, and problem-solving skills. This position works cross-functionally with Operations, Material Planning, Engineering Change Management, Quality, Maintenance, Controls, Manufacturing IT/Systems, and other support teams.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain production orders across all manufacturing shops, ensuring orders are accurate, available, and aligned to the current production plan.
  • Support order creation, release, sequencing, rescheduling, holds, and other order-management activities in accordance with established daily build plans.
  • Develop and maintain the General Assembly sequence, including Paint sequencing activities that ensure the correct painted vehicle components are available for GA consumption at the required time.
  • Coordinate Paint and GA sequence changes caused by production constraints, material availability, quality concerns, rework, kick-outs, reinserts, or system interruptions.
  • Monitor order flow, production sequence, WIP, and shop conditions throughout the overnight shift to identify risks before they affect production.
  • Partner with shop-floor leaders and support functions to resolve order, sequence, system, and execution issues in real time.
  • Track & assess downtime events, production losses, sequence disruptions, and recovery actions.
  • Work closely with Production Scheduler to support recovery plans and mid-shift replans when production conditions, downtime, supply, or quality issues change the expected build plan.
  • Follow all safety, quality, environmental, attendance, and standard-work requirements.
  • Work is performed in a combination of office and active manufacturing environments.
  • The role may require standing, walking, climbing stairs, and navigating production areas while following required personal protective equipment and safety procedures.
  • The role requires sustained attention to live production conditions and the ability to respond calmly and accurately during escalations.

Qualifications

  • Experience in manufacturing operations, production scheduling, production control, logistics, supply chain, or a related environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Working knowledge of Google Sheets, Google Slides, Google Docs, & other related programs.
  • Ability to work the assigned overnight shift, 10:00 PM–6:30 AM, and additional hours or alternative schedules as business needs require.
  • Ability to work effectively in a manufacturing environment and move between office & shop-floor if needed.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with order management, production sequencing, manufacturing execution systems, or shop-floor control applications.
  • Experience coordinating downtime escalations and documenting operational impacts.
  • 3+ years experience in manufacturing, supply chain, logistics, or similar environment.
