Senior Secondary Design Engineer

Responsibilities:

• Review and validate material BOQs and propose tailored solutions aligned with the scope of work (SOW).
• Evaluate technical submittals to ensure compliance with the project SOW and standards.
• Lead the preparation and verification of all required drawings prior to submission to clients or subcontractors.
• Conduct comprehensive reviews of protection and control schemes.
• Design and develop protection, control, and telecommunication systems for the substation or plant.
• Coordinate with equipment vendors and interpret various supplier drawings for integration.
• Participate in technical meetings with clients, consultants, and stakeholders to resolve design-related issues.
• Review and oversee all deliverables submitted by secondary design engineers for quality and completeness.
• Prepare accurate and complete bills of quantities for protection and control systems.
• Provide design input and specifications for procurement of major substation equipment (e.g., transformers, breakers, voltage regulators, etc.).
• Coordinate with design consultants to ensure timely delivery of required outputs.
• Perform relay coordination and protection setting calculations.
• Track and follow up on the status of submittals with clients and suppliers.
• Collaborate with the primary design team to ensure alignment of technical submittals and design consistency.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical - engineering.
• 5-7 years of experience in the same position.
• In-depth knowledge of HV substation design standards and practices specific to Saudi Arabia
• Proficient in PSSE and PSCAD for dynamic simulation and power system studies
• Skilled in ETAP for power system modeling and analysis
• Advanced proficiency in MS Office Suite for documentation, reporting, and data analysis
• Expert-level use of AutoCAD and MicroStation for electrical design drafting
