Senior Security Engineer - Vulnerability Research

For our client, we are seeking a Senior Security Engineer - Vulnerability Research to join the team of a leader in the Information Technology space.

This role will focus on uncovering security weaknesses across web and native applications, with an emphasis on high-risk components and practical remediation. The engineer will help shape vulnerability research strategy, evaluate exploitability and impact, and partner closely with developers to reduce time from detection to remediation. In addition, this position will leverage AI-enabled workflows and internal tooling to improve the quality, speed, and consistency of security findings.

Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available

Compensation: $191,000 – $293,000 annually

Responsibilities

• Decide which attack surfaces and bug classes to target for vulnerability discovery
• Triage newly discovered vulnerabilities and rank them by exploitability and impact
• Provide high-quality patch guidance and collaborate on pull requests for remediation
• Maintain a threat model to guide future vulnerability research
• Drive vulnerability research using AI capabilities and build effective workflows
• Develop and maintain tools for vulnerability research, including AI skills and analyzers
• Improve time from detection to remediation by increasing finding quality
• Conduct source code reviews and security assessments of high-risk components

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
• 5+ years of industry experience, 7+ preferred
• Strong understanding of web and native application security
• Hands-on experience with vulnerability research, source code review, and penetration testing
• Proficiency in at least one programming language: Go, C++, TypeScript/JavaScript, or Python
• Experience developing and shipping secure code
