About the Role:

SECTOR7 SECURITY is seeking an experienced Senior Security Technician to join our growing Christchurch-based team. This is a hands-on, field-based position suited to someone who enjoys being on the tools while also taking a leadership role in the delivery and day-to-day management of our installations division.

This role is critical to maintaining high standards across the installation, commissioning, and servicing of large commercial security projects. You will work alongside the team in the field, providing technical leadership, mentoring technicians, and ensuring work is delivered efficiently, compliantly, and to a high standard.

The successful candidate must be comfortable spending the majority of their time on-site and actively involved in installations. As the division grows over time, there is a clear pathway for the role to progressively take on more planning and office-based responsibilities.

Candidates will be expected to effectively organise and manage their own time, schedules, and client responsibilities. At Sector7, technicians are actively trained to operate with the mindset and accountability of running their own business.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead from the front by actively installing, commissioning, and servicing security systems
• Oversee and support installation teams on-site to ensure quality, efficiency, and consistency
• Deliver commercial security projects with a strong focus on workmanship and compliance
• Provide technical guidance, troubleshooting, and mentoring to technicians
• Assist with coordination of jobs, resources, and workflows in the field
• Provide remote service and technical support to clients when required
• Collaborate with technicians across New Zealand
• Participate in training and upskilling in areas such as networking and project delivery
• Occasional travel with infrequent overnight stays

Skills & Experience:

• Strong hands-on experience with commercial Access Control, Intrusion, CCTV, and Intercom systems
• Certifications in Inner Range, Gallagher, or ICT (highly regarded)
• Experience with systems such as Paradox, Avigilon, Milestone, NX Witness, Hikvision, Aiphone, and Salto
• Holds, or is able to obtain, a valid Security License
• Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving ability
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to manage time and workload within defined boundaries in a fast-paced environment
