Senior Server

Job Summary The Senior Server at Mandarin Oriental Tokyo is responsible for providing exceptional dining experiences to guests, ensuring the highest standards of service and hospitality are consistently met. This role involves leading a section, training junior staff, and maintaining a sophisticated and efficient service flow.

Job Responsibilities

• Provide professional, attentive, and personalized service to all guests, anticipating their needs and exceeding expectations.
• Lead and supervise a designated service section, ensuring smooth operations and adherence to service standards.
• Assist in the training and development of new and junior servers, demonstrating proper service techniques and company protocols.
• Take accurate food and beverage orders, utilizing point-of-sale systems efficiently and accurately.
• Serve food and beverages promptly and elegantly, following established service procedures.
• Maintain a thorough knowledge of all menu items, including ingredients, preparation methods, and potential allergens.
• Possess a strong understanding of wine and beverage lists, offering recommendations and performing proper pouring and serving techniques.
• Handle guest inquiries and resolve any service-related issues with professionalism and discretion.
• Ensure the dining area is impeccably clean, organized, and set up according to Mandarin Oriental standards.
• Collaborate effectively with kitchen staff and other restaurant team members to ensure seamless guest experiences.
• Adhere to all health, safety, and hygiene regulations.
• Process payments accurately and efficiently, handling cash and card transactions.

Job Qualifications

• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a fine dining or luxury hotel restaurant setting as a server, with at least 1 year in a senior or supervisory role.
• Demonstrated passion for hospitality and a commitment to delivering exceptional guest service.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with fluency in English and Japanese (both written and verbal).
• Strong knowledge of international cuisine, fine wines, and spirits.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment while maintaining composure and professionalism.
• Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Proficiency in using point-of-sale systems and other restaurant management software.
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and lift moderate weights.
• A positive attitude, strong work ethic, and ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
