Senior Software Architect

We are partnering with a leading enterprise organization seeking a Senior Software Architect to play a key role in designing and delivering modern, cloud-native applications.

This is a highly collaborative, hands-on architecture opportunity where you will work closely with engineering teams, analysts, and technical leadership to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.

This position is ideal for an experienced architect who enjoys balancing strategic design with day-to-day technical execution. You will influence architecture decisions, define solution patterns, support development teams, and help drive modernization initiatives across cloud-based platforms.

Location & Schedule

• 100% Remote
• Candidates located within approximately 45 miles of Peoria, Illinois may be required to attend occasional onsite meetings
• Standard business hours availability required

Role Overview

The Senior Software Architect will work closely with internal engineering teams and senior technical leadership to design and implement scalable cloud-native solutions.

This role owns technical execution and design decisions while ensuring alignment with broader architectural standards. The architect will participate throughout the software development lifecycle, including proof of concepts, system design, development support, testing, documentation, and solution modernization efforts.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement functional and non-functional system requirements in partnership with senior technical leadership
• Design and document API specifications, integration patterns, and data models
• Collaborate with software engineers, architects, analysts, and designers to deliver high-quality solutions
• Provide technical guidance on complex and high-risk design decisions
• Research, document, and implement software and system requirements
• Define high-level migration strategies for transitioning from current-state systems to future-state architectures
• Participate in architecture and design activities focused on performance, security, scalability, reliability, maintainability, and reusability
• Analyze existing systems and recommend improvements and modernization opportunities
• Support engineering teams throughout implementation and production support activities
• Evaluate proof-of-concept solutions and emerging technologies

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• 5+ years of relevant software architecture, systems analysis, or software engineering experience
• Extensive knowledge of network design, application development, middleware, servers and storage, database management, and operations
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
• Expert-level understanding of coding methodologies, software development best practices, and project delivery processes
• Strong understanding of systems analysis and programming concepts with awareness of business requirements and operational needs
• Experience with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines
• Experience designing and supporting cloud-native applications in Microsoft Azure environments
