Senior Software Developer/Software Developer (at the rank of IT Officer/IT Technician) in the Information Technology Services (Ref.: 537233)

Information Technology Services (ITS) provides central IT services to support the University’s teaching, learning, research and administrative activities. ITS is transforming its organization to support its strategic development and adoption of new technologies. Information about ITS can be obtained at https://www.its.hku.hk/.

We are currently looking for high-calibre IT talent to join us in implementing and supporting the University's finance systems. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on challenging projects, leveraging his/her technical expertise to design, develop, and integrate tailored software solutions.

The Role

The appointee will develop and maintain in-house and other finance systems including Oracle e-Business Suite, iExpenses, and Cloud Procurement. He/She will collect and analyze user requirements, design systems, perform programming and testing, provide technical support, and liaise with internal administrative offices/departmental users and external solutions consultants.

Qualifications and Qualities

Applicants should (1) possess a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology or a related discipline; (2) have solid experience in software application development and support; (3) have a good command of written and spoken English; and (4) demonstrate good communication, analytical and problem-solving skills.

Applicants should possess good knowledge and relevant experience in ONE OR MORE of the following areas:

1. Oracle EBS R12 (GL, AP, FA, AR, iExpenses) & Cloud Procurement, PL/SQL, Web Service API (i.e. REST, SOAP), BIP and Unix Shell scripts
2. Server/Cloud setup for Oracle EBS/Cloud Procurement, including cloning, patch application, certificate renewal, etc.
3. Web & app programming (Java, Servlet) and web technologies (HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, jQuery, Ajax, Node.js)
4. Microsoft Power BI
5. Applying AI technologies for practical solutions to enhance business processes, decision-making and user experience

Those with less experience may be considered for appointment as Software Developer (at the rank of IT Technician).

What We Offer

The appointment will be made on fixed-term full-time contract for 2 years, and commence as soon as possible with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance. A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, together with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme at 10% of basic salary. Other benefits include annual leave and medical benefits.
