About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Senior Software Engineer with strong expertise in AI-assisted development and Agentic SDLC to join the Central Development Services team.

The team is responsible for defining and automating organisation-wide software development standards and delivering the supporting developer toolchain.

As AI technologies continue to transform software engineering, the organisation is redesigning its development processes and engineering environment. You will play a key role in shaping this transformation, helping introduce AI-native engineering practices, AI agents and agentic workflows across the Software Development Lifecycle .

This is a hands-on position for someone who combines strong software engineering experience with a deep understanding of modern AI-assisted development.

Responsibilities

You will:

• Help design and shape an AI-native software development lifecycle
• Contribute hands-on to the development of a modern engineering environment and developer toolchain
• Implement AI-assisted and agentic development workflows
• Embed quality, security and compliance mechanisms into engineering processes
• Ensure developers and AI agents have access to the correct knowledge, context and tooling
• Develop and maintain an internal AI Engineering Playbook
• Improve the developer experience through automation, standardisation and reusable engineering practices
• Support development teams adopting new AI-native ways of working
• Coach and guide the wider developer community
• Establish measurable insights into the impact of AI on areas such as:
• Software quality
• Security
• Developer productivity
• Engineering efficiency
• Work closely with technical and non-technical stakeholders across the organisation

Required Experience

We are looking for someone who:

• Has HBO/WO-level working and thinking capability
• Has at least 7 years of experience as a Software Engineer, Lead Developer or in a comparable engineering position
• Has demonstrable experience with AI-assisted software development
• Has hands-on experience with agentic software development and AI agents
• Has applied these technologies within a large enterprise environment
• Has a strong understanding of AI-native engineering practices
• Has developed practical engineering standards, best practices or frameworks around AI-assisted development
• Understands concepts including:
• Agent orchestration
• Context management
• Model Context Protocol (MCP)
• AI-assisted coding
• Agentic workflows
• Can quickly understand emerging technologies and translate them into practical engineering solutions
• Remains technically hands-on rather than operating purely at architectural or strategic level
• Can guide developer communities through new engineering practices
• Can communicate complex technical concepts clearly to a diverse range of stakeholders
• Has strong stakeholder management and communication skills
