Senior Software Engineer - AI Platform

For our client, we are seeking a Senior Software Engineer - AI Platform to join the team of a leader in the Information Technology space. This role will lead work at the intersection of data, AI-enabled capabilities, and scalable technology delivery. You will work across engineering, product, operations, and business stakeholders to translate complex requirements into practical technology solutions. The position offers the opportunity to influence architecture, execution quality, and the technology capabilities that enable long-term growth within a technology-driven environment.

Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available

Compensation: $170,000 – $210,000 annually

Responsibilities

• Design and optimize prompts for VLMs to support document processing tasks
• Build and maintain AI evaluation pipelines to measure model quality metrics
• Evaluate and benchmark foundation models like Azure OpenAI and Google Gemini
• Implement structured output extraction techniques for document verification
• Develop and maintain Python-based AI services using FastAPI and asynchronous patterns
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate regulatory requirements into scalable AI features
• Monitor and resolve issues across AI inference services and cloud infrastructure

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant technical field or equivalent experience
• Strong experience with prompt engineering for VLMs and LLMs, particularly GPT and Gemini models
• Demonstrated ability to design AI evaluation frameworks with various accuracy metrics
• Strong understanding of multimodal AI systems combining documents and natural language prompts
• Proficient in Python, FastAPI, and asynchronous programming for API development
• Experience optimizing AI systems for performance and cost
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with strong communication capabilities
