Senior Software Engineer, Backend (Card Loan Platform)

For our client, we are seeking a Senior Software Engineer, Backend (Card Loan Platform) to join the team of a leader in the Finance & Insurance space.

This role will focus on building and scaling core backend services that support a high-volume lending platform. You will help shape technical direction, partner closely with product and cross-functional stakeholders, and solve complex engineering challenges that impact reliability, performance, and customer experience. The position also offers the opportunity to mentor engineers and influence best practices across the team.

Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available

Compensation: $173,000 – $233,000 annually

Responsibilities

• Drive technical strategy by leading project planning and execution aligned with business goals.
• Lead the design and development of large-scale, high-availability services, including robust APIs.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define requirements for card loan attribution and lifecycle strategy.
• Analyze and troubleshoot complex technical issues to ensure system health and performance.
• Mentor junior engineers and lead technical discussions to promote best practices.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software development experience with a focus on system design and architecture.
• Proven leadership skills, fostering team growth and a culture of learning.
• Strong communication skills for conveying complex ideas to diverse audiences.
• Analytical and problem-solving mindset with a creative approach.
• Proficiency in modern programming languages like Python or Kotlin.
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and containerization tools (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Familiarity with database systems (SQL, NoSQL) and RESTful API development.
