Senior Software Engineer (Backend)

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer (Backend) to design, build, and improve highly scalable backend systems and infrastructure. The role focuses on microservices architecture, API development, database optimization, event-driven systems, security, observability, and incident management.

The ideal candidate combines strong backend engineering expertise with systems thinking and the ability to lead technical initiatives, mentor team members, and work closely with Product Managers and cross-functional stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop well-architected, scalable microservices and backend systems.
• Collaborate with Product Managers and stakeholders to refine requirements and technical solutions.
• Improve and refactor existing codebases to enhance maintainability, performance, and scalability.
• Develop and maintain reliable APIs and backend services.
• Design and optimize persistence layers and database systems.
• Implement security controls to protect services and data.
• Work with asynchronous workflows, background task processing, and event-driven systems.
• Build effective monitoring, logging, and observability into backend systems.
• Lead and participate in incident response, including troubleshooting, mitigation, resolution, and post-incident improvements.
• Evaluate new technologies and technical approaches to solve complex engineering challenges.
• Lead technical projects, manage deliverables, and ensure alignment across teams.
• Mentor and provide technical guidance to other engineers.
• Participate in code reviews and maintain high standards for software quality and engineering practices.
• Support continuous improvement, training, and other technical initiatives as required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience with a strongly typed programming language such as Go (Golang) or Java .
• Hands-on experience with relational and non-relational databases such as PostgreSQL, Redis, or Spanner .
• Strong knowledge of persistence layer design, database optimization, and concurrency.
• Proficiency with message brokers such as Kafka or RabbitMQ .
• Experience with background task processing, asynchronous workflows, and event-driven systems.
• Proven experience developing well-architected APIs and microservices.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.
• Ability to solve complex technical problems and develop effective solutions.
• Ability to interpret data, analyze trends, and make data-backed decisions.
• Strong understanding of software engineering principles, systems thinking, scalability, and software quality.
• Demonstrated experience leading technical projects, managing deliverables, and aligning teams toward consistent outcomes.
• Leadership and mentoring experience is required.

Office Location: 2733 Sabio St., Chino Roces, Makati City

Work Arrangement: Hybrid – 3 days onsite per week
