Senior Software Engineer – Backend

StageYou, Inc. is recruiting experienced Senior Software Engineers for active opportunities with fast-growing U.S. technology companies.

We are looking for hands-on engineers who are strongest behind the application layer—designing APIs, building services, working with data, solving scalability problems, and keeping production systems reliable.

Depending on the opportunity, you may work on high-volume APIs, distributed services, event-driven architectures, data-intensive applications, internal platforms, enterprise integrations, or AI-enabled backend systems.

The Opportunity

You may be responsible for:

• Designing and building scalable backend services, APIs, and microservices
• Developing distributed and event-driven systems
• Working with relational and NoSQL databases, caching, and data-processing systems
• Building and operating software in cloud and containerized environments
• Improving performance, scalability, reliability, observability, and security
• Making architecture and system-design decisions
• Owning services from development and testing through deployment and production
• Diagnosing complex production issues and improving existing systems
• Collaborating with product, engineering, infrastructure, and other technical teams

What You’ll Bring

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience
• Strong backend development experience with production-grade systems
• Strong programming ability in Python, Java, Go, TypeScript/Node.js, C++, or another modern language
• Experience developing APIs, microservices, distributed systems, or other backend services
• Experience with SQL and/or NoSQL databases
• Experience with AWS, GCP, Azure, or another major cloud environment
• Strong system-design, debugging, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to take ownership of complex technical problems
• Strong written and verbal communication skills

Technology Environment

Relevant opportunities span technologies including Python, Java, Go, TypeScript/Node.js, PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, Redis, AWS, GCP, Azure, Docker, Kubernetes, Kafka, Terraform, CI/CD, and modern observability tooling.

You are not expected to have experience with every technology listed. We are primarily interested in strong backend engineers with demonstrated production experience.

Experience with full-stack development, platform engineering, distributed systems, or customer-facing engineering can be valuable for some opportunities.

Experience building AI-enabled applications, LLM integrations, RAG systems, or agentic workflows is an advantage for some opportunities, but is not required.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.

Compensation & Benefits

Compensation: 150,000–320,000 per year

Exact compensation varies depending on the specific opportunity, seniority, experience, location, and employer.

Additional compensation may include equity, bonuses, health benefits, paid time off, and other benefits, depending on the opportunity.
