Senior Software Engineer (Backend)

Our client is a Series A AI healthcare company in New York building an AI-first medical practice. Its clinicians work alongside AI to give patients fast, personalized care at any hour. The company has about 90 people, has raised over $35M from top-tier VCs, works with large national healthcare organizations, and grew revenue 5x last year.

About the role

You'll join the Platform & Integrations team, which is currently three engineers. The team owns how health data enters the system and how enterprise partners embed the product in their own apps. You'll own an end-to-end backend system within your first month.

What you'll do

• Design and evolve the external API and embedded product layer for enterprise healthcare clients, with disciplined versioning and long-term stability
• Build the health data platform that ingests, reconciles and exposes wearable, medication, lab and EHR data
• Work directly with partners' engineering teams on embedded integrations
• Build core data models that bring together structured health records, unstructured inputs and high-frequency time-series signals
• Build pluggable ingestion frameworks with adapters for onboarding new partners

What we're looking for

• 6+ years building production backend systems, ideally at high-growth startups
• Must have: built and maintained external-facing or public APIs that customers or partners rely on
• TypeScript/Node.js, PostgreSQL, queues and distributed systems
• Zero-to-one experience at a startup, or on new teams or projects at a larger company
• High ownership and clear written communication
• Nice to have: enterprise integrations, partner onboarding or health tech experience

Tech stack: TypeScript, Node.js, Bun, PostgreSQL, Redis, SQS, Temporal, AWS, GCP, Docker, Kubernetes

Location: NYC (Flatiron), in office Tuesday to Thursday. You must be based in NYC.

Compensation: $190K to $220K base plus equity
