Senior Software Engineer, Backend (Marketing & Privacy Engineering)

For our client, we are seeking a Senior Software Engineer, Backend (Marketing & Privacy Engineering) to join the team of a leader in the Finance & Insurance space.

This role will focus on backend systems that support marketing data, privacy-aware infrastructure, and scalable engineering practices. You will partner closely with product, design, and analytics teams to deliver quarterly goals while helping shape reliable, extensible solutions across a large codebase. The position also involves strengthening operational readiness, improving technical standards, and contributing to a culture of ownership and quality within the engineering organization.

The work spans distributed systems, data pipelines, and collaboration across the product development lifecycle in a regulated financial services environment.

Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available

Compensation: $153,000 – $213,000 annually

Responsibilities

• Own and deliver quarterly goals for the engineering team, guiding through ambiguity
• Collaborate with product management, design, and analytics throughout the product development lifecycle
• Proactively identify and advocate for solutions to project, process, or technology issues
• Monitor team artifacts' operations and availability, supporting on-call efforts as needed
• Foster a culture of quality and ownership by improving code review and design standards
• Develop talent on the team through feedback, guidance, and leading by example

Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience in backend system design and development using Python or Kotlin
• Proven track record in building highly available distributed systems with AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes
• Hands-on experience with marketing data systems, including Google Tag Manager, GA4, and customer data platforms
• Experience in building production data pipelines using Snowflake, dbt, and Airflow
• Ability to define technical plans for significant features with elegant and extensible designs
• Proficient in making significant changes in large codebases with safety practices
• Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration
