What they need

We're seeking someone to join our Prime Brokerage Data team as a Senior Software Engineer in Institutional Securities Tech.

Data Fabric is an API-first platform where producers publish once and distribute governed datasets to multiple endpoints. Metadata-as-code synchronizes to the firmwide data catalogue, automating onboarding, schema control, SLAs, lineage, and archival. The distribution engine routes data to target containers (e.g., Snowflake) while enforcing governance and access policies. Data Fabric reduces risk, accelerates integration, and improves data reuse across the enterprise. It is the backbone for Prime Brokerage and Securities Financing data platform.

In the Technology division, we leverage innovation to build the connections and capabilities that power our Firm, enabling our clients and colleagues to redefine markets and shape the future of our communities. This is a Senior Software Engineer position at Vice President level, which is part of the job family responsible for developing and maintaining software solutions that support business needs and requirements.

Since 1935, Morgan Stanley is known as a global leader in financial services, always evolving and innovating to better serve our clients and our communities in more than 40 countries around the world.

What you'll do in the role:

  • Develop resilient, highly scalable, cloud-enabled systems that support the demands of a complex financial services environment.
  • Contribute to the evolution of the firm's "Data Fabric" platform, delivering innovative capabilities that empower both business users and the developer community.
  • Drive continuous improvements in platform reliability, performance, scalability, and operational resilience.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for optimization and enhance the overall effectiveness of the platform and its services.

What you'll bring to the role:

  • At least 6 years’ relevant experience would generally be expected to find the skills required for this role
  • Bachelor or higher degree in a STEM field
  • Experience with SQL databases
  • Architectural mindset
  • Ample knowledge of Java and Python, primarily within server-side development with at least 3 years of experience
  • User level knowledge of Unix/Linux
  • Good communication skills in English with confirmed ability to deliver high-quality software working in multi-person teams
