Senior Software Engineer

Salary: Starting from $113,000 per year, depending on experience
Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week
Typical schedule: 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM

We’re adding a Senior Software Engineer to our Columbus engineering team to work on software used across finance, healthcare and logistics environments.

This is a hands-on senior position. You’ll spend most of your time designing, building and improving production software, while also having a genuine say in architecture, technical standards and how projects are delivered.

The work is varied. Some projects involve building completely new functionality, while others focus on improving established platforms that are handling increasing numbers of users, integrations and data.

What you'll be working on

Projects across the team include:

• Building and extending enterprise web applications
• Developing APIs and backend services
• Improving application performance and scalability
• Modernising older services and legacy components
• Integrating third-party platforms and client systems
• Improving automated testing and deployment processes
• Investigating production issues and implementing long-term fixes
• Reviewing security, reliability and technical debt

Most projects run through planned development cycles, so you'll have visibility of upcoming work rather than constantly jumping between last-minute requests.

What we're looking for

You'll need solid commercial software engineering experience and should be comfortable taking ownership of technically complicated work.

Strong experience with at least one of the following is expected:

Java, C#, Python, JavaScript or TypeScript

You'll also ideally have experience with:

• REST APIs and modern application architecture
• SQL and database-driven applications
• Automated testing and code reviews
• Git and modern development workflows
• AWS, Azure or GCP
• CI/CD and production deployments
• Debugging live application issues

Experience with React, Angular, Vue, Docker, Kubernetes or microservices is useful, but we're not expecting one person to know every technology on the list.

What makes this a senior role

You'll still spend a significant amount of your week coding.

Alongside that, you'll review technical approaches, contribute to architecture decisions, help other engineers solve difficult problems and provide constructive code reviews.

You'll also have opportunities to mentor junior and mid-level engineers without moving away from hands-on development into full-time people management.

Day-to-day setup

The normal working week is Monday to Friday, approximately 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, with some flexibility around start and finish times depending on the team and project.

The engineering team works closely with product, QA and design, with regular planning sessions and code reviews but without filling the calendar with unnecessary meetings.

Salary starts from $118,000 per year, with the final package based on your experience and technical background.
