Senior Software Engineer

The Job:

The Senior Software Engineer will initially focus on analyzing, enhancing, and maintaining an existing Excel Visual Basic for Applications (VBA)-based tool used for generating CRUD matrices and related design deliverables. Following the detailed design phase, the successful candidate will continue supporting development and testing using Java/JSP and related technologies. The candidate is also expected to collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable, reliable, and high-quality business solutions.

Other Responsibilities:

• Analyze, enhance, and maintain complex Excel VBA tools used for CRUD matrix generation, including impact analysis, debugging, performance optimization, and testing.
• Support application development and maintenance activities using Java, JSP, SQL, and related technologies, implementing system enhancements and modifications based on business and project requirements.
• Execute unit, integration, and system testing activities, manage defects, perform root cause analysis, and support quality assurance reviews.
• Promote software development best practices, including automated testing and continuous integration, while ensuring adherence to coding standards, documentation guidelines, and maintainable design principles.
• Prepare and maintain technical documentation and actively contribute to knowledge-sharing initiatives to enhance team productivity and long-term solution supportability.
• Collaborate closely with project managers, business analysts, and stakeholders to translate business requirements into effective technical solutions.
• Stay current with emerging technologies, development practices, and Generative AI concepts, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, quality, and automation.

Job Specifications:

• Possesses a degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
• 5+ years of software development experience, with strong expertise in Java / JSP development and proven hands-on experience in VBA development.
• Demonstrated experience in Excel VBA development, including complex macro analysis, debugging, performance optimization, and testing.
• Strong Java development experience using Spring, JSP, and related technologies, with the ability to analyze existing code, understand business requirements, and implement effective solutions.
• Solid understanding of relational databases (PostgreSQL), CRUD analysis, data modeling, and Entity-Relationship diagrams.
• Proficiency in using version control tools such as Git and similar source code management systems.
• Proven experience working within a Waterfall software development environment.
• Strong problem solving, and decision-making skills.
• Excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills
• Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, development environment.
• Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and a proactive mindset.
• Open to learning Japanese and willing to develop Japanese language skills as needed for the role.
