Senior Software Engineer

Position Title: Senior Software Engineer — C# / WinForms

Location: Remote (EST Time Zone)

Position Status: Full Time

Pay Rate: $60-$65/hr W2

Position Description

We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join a collaborative team supporting a large-scale Windows desktop application . This is a hands-on development role focused on building, enhancing, and maintaining enterprise software.

The ideal candidate is a strong C# developer with experience developing desktop applications and working with complex enterprise systems. This is not a web development role . The technology environment includes C#, WinForms, WCF, Microsoft SQL Server, NHibernate, XML, and Azure DevOps .

You’ll contribute to both new development and ongoing maintenance while working with a large, established application that continues to evolve with new functionality and user requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, enhance, and maintain features within a C# / WinForms desktop application .
• Design and implement maintainable solutions using object-oriented programming principles and established design patterns.
• Analyze requirements and translate business needs into effective technical solutions.
• Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve software defects and application issues.
• Work with Microsoft SQL Server , including writing and understanding SQL queries.
• Develop and maintain functionality involving WCF services and NHibernate .
• Work with XML and other technologies within the application environment.
• Collaborate with Product Owners and fellow engineers to clarify requirements and deliver solutions.
• Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies and use Azure DevOps for development workflows and source control.
• Follow established coding, version-control, and software development standards.
• Contribute technical ideas and solutions that improve the product and development process.
• Learn and navigate a large, complex enterprise application and codebase.

Desired Skills / Experience

• 4+ years of professional software development experience.
• Strong hands-on experience with C# .
• Experience developing Windows desktop applications using WinForms .
• Strong understanding of object-oriented programming and software design principles.
• Experience with Microsoft SQL Server and SQL queries.
• Experience working with complex enterprise applications.
• Experience with Agile/Scrum development methodologies.
• Experience with Azure DevOps or similar development/source-control tools.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively independently and as part of a collaborative engineering team.
• Ability and willingness to learn a large, established technology stack.

Preferred / Additional Experience

• WCF (Windows Communication Foundation)
• NHibernate
• XML
• Multi-tier or distributed application development
• TFS or comparable Microsoft development environments
• Experience maintaining and enhancing large enterprise desktop applications

Team & Work Environment

You’ll work as part of an Agile team consisting of software engineers, a Scrum team, and a Product Owner. The team is fully onshore, with a mix of remote and local employees.

The team supports both new development and ongoing maintenance , including significant new functionality being incorporated into the core product. This role offers the opportunity to work on a large, established application while continually expanding your knowledge of its technology and architecture.
