Senior Software Engineer

About the role

Our client is a Berlin-based company developing software for the medical sector. They are looking for a senior engineer who is hands-on in code and who can set up and run a structured development process under medical-device regulation.

You will join a small, technically strong team where engineers own decisions, explain their reasoning and challenge ideas openly.

What you will do

• Build and maintain backend services and mobile applications for a regulated product
• Establish and run the software lifecycle under the applicable medical-device standards
• Produce and maintain regulated engineering evidence such as requirements, risk controls, verification records and traceability
• Own technical decisions across architecture, testing and releases
• Set up automated testing and controlled release practices
• Work with colleagues across product, quality and regulatory, and support the growth of other engineers

What we are looking for

Essential

• Hands-on experience delivering software under a medical-device quality system
• Clear evidence of what you personally produced within it, such as requirements, traceability, verification reports, change control or release records
• Strong backend engineering and ownership of production mobile applications
• A solid academic foundation, or demanding professional work showing equivalent depth
• A career in which your responsibility grew over time
• Willingness to work in Berlin on a hybrid basis, with several days per week in the office

Nice to have

• Signal processing or audio experience
• Team-lead or technical leadership experience
• Comparable regulated lifecycle experience (aerospace, automotive, IVD)
