Senior Software Engineer

About the Role

AEHR Test Systems is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to lead the design, development, testing, and optimization of software for advanced semiconductor burn-in test equipment and/or wafer alignment systems.

The successful candidate will bring strong software engineering expertise, sound architectural judgment, and the ability to mentor junior engineers. This role involves developing reliable, high-performance software solutions, troubleshooting complex technical issues, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to support engineering operations and customer applications.

The Senior Software Engineer plays a key leadership role in the design, development, and optimization of software for advanced burn‑in test equipment and/or a wafer aligner. This position requires deep technical expertise, strong architectural thinking, and the ability to mentor junior engineers. The ideal candidate will excel in multidisciplinary collaboration and deliver high‑quality, reliable software solutions that support both internal engineering teams and customer applications.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of software using C++, STL, Java, Python, and C#
• Build and maintain applications for Linux and Windows operating environments
• Architect scalable, maintainable, and high‑performance software components
• Provide advanced technical support for customer application development and integration
• Conduct detailed root‑cause analysis and implement long‑term corrective solutions
• Oversee hardware/software integration, including lab bench testing and system‑level validation
• Mentor junior engineers and promote best practices in coding, design, and testing
• Participate in full lifecycle development: requirements, architecture, implementation, testing, deployment, and maintenance
• Develop and review black‑box and white‑box test cases to ensure software quality
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams including Applications, Electrical, and Manufacturing Engineering
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, documentation standards, and code review processes

Qualifications

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
• Master’s degree preferred but not required

Technical Skills

• Expert proficiency in C/C++, Java, Python, and C#
• Strong experience with Linux and Windows development environments
• Experience with multithreaded, task‑based, and GUI application development
• Ability to design and evaluate black-box and white‑box test cases
• Familiarity with tools such as Jira, Confluence, Git, Bitbucket, GitKraken are a plus
• Background in multidisciplinary product development involving software and electronics

Experience

• Minimum 5 years of professional software engineering experience
• Experience in semiconductor burn‑in test operations or manufacturing technology is a strong advantage
• Demonstrated ability to lead technical initiatives and mentor junior engineers
