Senior Software Engineer – Embedded Video / Set-Top Box

We are looking for an experienced Software Engineer to join a global media technology organisation developing next-generation video and entertainment solutions used by major broadcasters, operators and media companies worldwide.

This is an opportunity to work on a well-established, large-scale video platform within a highly experienced multidisciplinary engineering team. You will contribute to the development, integration and continuous evolution of software powering Set-Top Box (STB) and connected video experiences .

We are particularly interested in engineers with strong C/C++, Qt and embedded systems experience , combined with a background in video technology, Set-Top Box platforms or similar complex consumer technology environments.

The Role

You will work within a collaborative, scaled Agile engineering environment, partnering with software engineers, architects, integration teams and customer-facing stakeholders to design and deliver reliable, high-performance software solutions.

You will contribute across the development lifecycle, from understanding customer requirements and defining software architecture and service interfaces through to development, integration, testing and deployment.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Designing and developing software to meet complex customer and product requirements .
• Defining and implementing interfaces between software components and services.
• Developing and integrating software within embedded Set-Top Box environments .
• Working extensively with C, C++ and Qt .
• Contributing to the design and development of Service-Oriented Architectures (SOA) .
• Working within the constraints and performance requirements associated with embedded systems.
• Participating in Scaled Agile / Scrum delivery, including estimation, sprint planning and technical refinement.
• Applying Test-Driven Development (TDD) principles to maintain high standards of software quality.
• Supporting and improving CI/CD pipelines and automated development processes .
• Working with technologies including Docker, AWS and Jenkins .
• Applying modern DevOps practices and automation throughout the software development lifecycle.
• Collaborating with multidisciplinary engineering teams across multiple international locations.
• Identifying opportunities to improve existing solutions, engineering processes and development efficiency.
• Using AI-driven development tools to streamline workflows, automate repetitive tasks and accelerate software delivery.

Key Experience

The successful candidate will bring:

• Strong commercial software engineering experience within embedded systems .
• Excellent development experience with C/C++ .
• Strong experience with Qt within an embedded environment.
• Previous experience working with Set-Top Box (STB) platforms is essential.
• A deep understanding of embedded systems architecture , including associated performance and resource constraints.
• Experience designing software architectures and defining interfaces between software services.
• Strong understanding of Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) .
• Practical experience with Test-Driven Development (TDD) .
• Experience working within Scaled Agile and/or Scrum environments .
• Strong understanding of software estimation and technical planning.
• Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines .
• Experience with Docker, AWS and Jenkins .
• Familiarity with modern DevOps, automation and software engineering practices .
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
• A proactive approach to identifying new and innovative ways of solving technical and customer challenges.
• An interest in using AI and automation tools to improve engineering productivity.
• A relevant university degree or equivalent technical background.

Experience within Pay-TV, OTT, broadcast, video technology or digital media platforms would be particularly advantageous.
