What they need

Engineering the Future of Connectivity

At NetComm, we’ve been connecting the world for over 40 years - designing and building innovative broadband products that connect homes, businesses, and industries across the globe. From Fixed Wireless to Fibre Extension and Home Broadband, our technology keeps people connected where it matters most.

Our commitment to innovation has made us pioneers in Fixed Wireless Access, creating the world's first 5G self-install solution and revolutionizing how carriers deploy broadband services.

We have been awarded the 2026 Telecommunications Industry Excellence (TIE) Award for Innovation in Vendor Technology which recognises the innovation behind Australia's own next-generation, whole-of-home broadband platform, purpose-built for the nbn network.

Our purpose is to listen to our customers and apply bold, innovative thinking to solve complex problems and connect the world.

We are looking for a strong Senior Software Engineer to join our engineering team in Melbourne and help design, build and support NetComm's industry-leading embedded Linux-based telecommunications devices. You will bring deep technical expertise in embedded systems and networking, working across mature products and new development to keep our devices performing at their best.

WHAT WILL BE YOUR FOCUS?

·         Contribute to the design and development of new embedded products, from concept through to production.

·         Maintain and extend existing code on mature, in-market embedded Linux platforms.

·         Investigate, diagnose and resolve customer-facing issues in collaboration with support and product teams.

·         Write robust, well-tested and maintainable C code, applying Python, Rust, C++, web technologies or shell scripting where appropriate.

·         Debug software issues at the system and hardware level, using test equipment and circuit schematics where required.

·         Work closely with hardware, validation, product management and other engineering teams as part of an existing cross-functional team.

·         Participate in code reviews and uphold strong code quality standards across the team.

·         Reproduce, triage and root-cause complex field issues across the network stack and embedded platform.

·         Document designs, known issues and troubleshooting procedures to support ongoing maintenance.

·         Keep up to date with developments in embedded Linux, networking and relevant toolchains.

WHAT ARE WE LOOKING IN FOR YOU?

  • Significant years of experience developing software for embedded Linux-based devices.

  • Comprehensive experience with networking concepts and protocols.

  • Strong competence in C programming.

  • Experience with Python, Rust, C++, web technologies and/or shell scripting is highly desirable.

  • Experience debugging software on embedded systems, including the use of hardware test equipment, is highly desirable.

  • Ability to read and interpret circuit schematics is highly desirable.

  • Demonstrated experience maintaining mature, in-market software platforms.

  • Experience diagnosing and resolving customer-facing technical issues.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with sound judgement on when to escalate.

  • Proven ability to work effectively within an existing cross-functional engineering team.

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

WHAT'S IN IT FOR YOU?

·         Inclusive and collaborative working environment.

·         Flexible working arrangements.

·         Competitive salary.

·         Exposure to innovative technology.

·         Professional development and training opportunities.

·         Regular wellbeing and diversity focused initiatives.

·         Various perks, including company-sponsored insurance, recognition awards and others to look forward to.

We believe in the value of a vibrant, diverse and inclusive workforce where our team members feel valued, respected and empowered to be bold, innovative and create strong connections with the world.

We embrace differences and we strongly encourage applications from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, LGBTQIA+ people and people with disabilities.

Other offers great for you!
