Senior Software Engineer

📍 Location: Brisbane, Canberra or Melbourne

🏛️ Client: Federal Government Contract

📅 Contract: 12 months + multiple extension options

🔐 Clearance: Must be able to obtain Baseline

Bridge IT is seeking experienced Senior Software Engineers / Technical Leads to support complex software development and digital transformation initiatives within a major Federal Government department.

The successful candidates will provide technical leadership across software design, development, systems integration, testing, deployment and production support , while ensuring solutions are secure, scalable and maintainable.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development and delivery of complex software applications and technical solutions.
• Develop technical designs, solution architectures and software development strategies.
• Lead software development, prototyping, unit testing and maintenance activities.
• Review technical requirements and recommend fit-for-purpose solutions.
• Oversee software releases, deployment and production support.
• Ensure adherence to software development methodologies, security standards and quality practices.
• Investigate and resolve complex technical issues across development and production environments.
• Lead systems integration, configuration management and testing activities.
• Provide technical advice and guidance to stakeholders and delivery teams.
• Mentor developers and support team capability development.
• Drive continuous improvement across software engineering practices.

Essential Requirements

• Strong experience as a Senior Software Engineer, Senior Developer or Technical Lead .
• Demonstrated experience designing and developing complex enterprise applications.
• Strong understanding of software engineering principles, SDLC methodologies and technical design.
• Experience with systems integration, release management, deployment and production support.
• Ability to provide technical leadership, review code and guide development teams.
• Experience implementing software quality, security and testing practices.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.

Experience with one or more of the following technologies would be highly regarded:

• SAP S/4HANA
• SAP UI5 / Fiori
• ABAP
• Angular
• Node.js
• Modern application development and integration technologies
• CI/CD, DevOps and automated testing
• Government or large enterprise software delivery environments
