Senior Software Engineer

Job Summary

VSolvit LLC is seeking a Senior Full Stack Software Engineer to join our dynamic team supporting critical U.S. Navy mission applications. In this senior hands-on role, you will take a leading role in designing, modernizing, and maintaining scalable web applications and cloud-native microservices. You will drive full lifecycle software development—from architecting Java/Spring Boot backends and modern Angular frontends to leading database refactoring and legacy data migration efforts ( Oracle PL/SQL to PostgreSQL ).

Key Responsibilities

• Full-Stack Architecture & Engineering: Lead the design and implementation of responsive web applications using modern Angular (TypeScript) on the frontend and Java / Spring Boot microservices on the backend.
• Database Migration & Modernization: Architect efficient relational data structures, complex SQL queries, and triggers. Lead data migration and refactoring initiatives converting legacy Oracle PL/SQL codebases and stored procedures to PostgreSQL .
• Microservices & Cloud Integration: Design robust RESTful APIs, manage microservices architectures, and support cloud-native deployments in containerized environments.
• Quality & Technical Leadership: Establish coding standards, perform peer code reviews, author technical documentation, write automated test suites (JUnit), and mentor team members in Agile environments.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate directly with U.S. Navy stakeholders, product owners, and cross-functional teams to translate complex mission requirements into technical solutions.

Basic Qualifications

• U.S. Citizenship is strictly required due to federal contract mandates.
• Active DoD Security Clearance (Secret level or higher) or the ability to immediately obtain/reactivate one.
• Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical discipline.
• Experience: 5+ to 7+ years of professional full-stack software engineering experience.
• Core Tech Stack Mastery:
• Backend: Advanced experience architecting and developing microservices and REST APIs with Java and Spring Boot .
• Frontend: Extensive hands-on experience building single-page enterprise web applications using Angular (TypeScript).
• Database: Strong database development background with SQL , PostgreSQL , and/or Oracle (PL/SQL) .
• Ability to obtain and maintain a CompTIA Security+ (CE) certification (or DoD 8570/8140 IAT Level II equivalent).

Preferred Qualifications

• Direct experience converting or migrating legacy Oracle (19c+) database objects, triggers, and PL/SQL packages to PostgreSQL .
• Experience developing in cloud-native environments ( AWS / Azure ), containerization ( Docker, Kubernetes ), and CI/CD pipelines ( Jenkins, GitLab CI ).
• Prior experience supporting U.S. Navy or broader DoD / Defense contractor software initiatives under CMMI Level 3 standards.
• Strong leadership, technical communication, and cross-functional problem-solving skills.
