Senior Software Engineer – Distributed Systems

Contract Inside IR35| Financial Services | London based ( 3 days onsite in London)

We're looking for an experienced Software Engineer to join the team responsible for the continued development, scaling and operation of a high-performance computing (HPC) platform.

You'll play a key role in designing and building software that supports large-scale distributed workloads, helping evolve the platform as it expands into hybrid cloud environments while improving reliability, scalability and operational efficiency.

What you'll be doing

• Design, develop and maintain software for a high-performance computing platform.
• Build new platform capabilities to support large-scale distributed workloads.
• Extend the platform into AWS, enabling hybrid cloud and on-premise environments.
• Improve platform scalability to support up to one million concurrent tasks.
• Develop tooling to simplify platform management, deployment and operational processes.
• Enhance deployment automation, logging, monitoring and access controls.
• Deliver well-tested, production-ready software following engineering best practices.
• Collaborate closely with engineers through technical design discussions, code reviews and Agile delivery.

Skills & Experience

• Commercial software engineering experience using Go, Python, Rust or C++, with a preference for engineers with strong Go experience or those who are confident in picking up Go.
• Experience designing or building distributed systems .
• Strong understanding of concurrency, scalability and performance optimisation.
• Experience developing production-grade backend software.
• Experience with AWS and cloud-native applications.
• Experience with Python is beneficial.
• Familiarity with Linux environments and modern software engineering practices.
