Senior Software Engineer (Full Stack)

Job Purpose

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will act as the technical lead within a cross-functional

project team, taking ownership of the end-to-end design, development, and delivery of

full-stack solutions across a serverless AWS back-end, a modern React and Next.js front-end,

and a Drupal-based content platform. You will set technical direction, uphold engineering

standards, mentor team members, and serve as a trusted technical partner to the client. In this

role, you will also lead the adoption of AI-driven engineering by building and orchestrating AI

agents that improve delivery speed, quality, and operational efficiency, while ensuring reliable

execution and continuous improvement in an agile, collaborative environment.

Key Accountabilities

Technical Leadership & Architecture:

● Own the technical direction of the project, defining architecture and design decisions

across back-end, front-end, and content platform layers

● Translate business and client requirements into scalable, secure, and maintainable

technical solutions

● Lead technical planning, backlog refinement, and estimation, breaking down complex

work into clear and actionable tasks

● Identify, prioritize, and manage technical debt, risks, and dependencies, communicating

trade-offs clearly to stakeholders

● Act as the escalation point for complex technical issues and guide the team through

troubleshooting and resolution

● Evaluate and introduce new technologies, frameworks, and practices that improve

delivery and engineering quality

Full-stack Development & Implementation:

● Design, build, and maintain serverless back-end services and RESTful APIs using

TypeScript, Node.js, AWS Lambda, and API Gateway

● Implement secure API access patterns including Lambda authorizers, JWT bearer

authentication, API keys, and usage plans

● Build and maintain search and data capabilities using Amazon OpenSearch Serverless,

SQS, and S3

● Develop responsive, high-quality front-end applications using React, Next.js, and MUI

within a Turborepo monorepo

● Contribute to and support the Drupal 10 and PHP 8.3 platform, including SAML SSO

integrations and ongoing upgrades

● Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code that sets the standard for the rest

of the team

● Support maintenance and enhancement of existing codebases and technical systems

across the full stack

AI Agents & Automation:

● Design, build, and orchestrate AI agents that automate and accelerate development,

testing, support, and operational workflows

● Integrate AI capabilities into project solutions and internal tooling in a secure, reliable, and

cost-effective way

● Define guidelines and best practices for the responsible use of AI tools and agents within

the team

● Measure the impact of AI-driven initiatives and continuously refine them based on

outcomes and feedback

● Share knowledge on AI-assisted engineering and enable team members to adopt these

practices effectively

Development Standards & Best Practices:

● Establish and enforce coding standards, code review practices, and quality assurance

procedures across the team

● Lead code reviews, providing constructive and actionable feedback that raises the overall

quality of the codebase

● Define testing strategies and ensure comprehensive coverage across unit, integration,

end-to-end, and load testing

● Apply security best practices across authentication, secrets management, IAM, and

network protection

● Consider performance, scalability, and cost implications in all technical decisions

● Drive continuous improvement initiatives across development processes, tooling, and

engineering practices

Cloud, DevOps & Operations:

● Provision and manage cloud resources using infrastructure as code with AWS CDK and

SAM/CloudFormation

● Own and improve CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions to automate build, test, and

deployment processes

● Lead release management and deployment activities across environments, including

containerized workloads on Docker and Kubernetes

● Ensure application observability and reliability through monitoring, logging, and alerting

with New Relic and CloudWatch

● Lead post-deployment monitoring, incident response, and root cause analysis, driving

preventive actions

Collaboration, Mentoring & Client Engagement:

● Serve as the primary technical point of contact for the client, leading technical

discussions, demonstrations, and solution proposals

● Mentor and coach team members, supporting their technical growth through pairing,

feedback, and knowledge sharing

● Lead onboarding and knowledge transfer for new team members

● Collaborate effectively with designers, product managers, QA, and other stakeholders to

align on priorities and outcomes

● Participate actively in and help facilitate agile ceremonies including sprint planning, daily

standups, and retrospectives

● Ensure clear communication of technical decisions, progress, risks, and blockers to the

team, client, and leadership

Knowledge and Experience

● At least 5 years of experience in software development, including at least 2 years in a

technical leadership or senior engineering role

● Proven experience building and orchestrating AI agents, and integrating AI capabilities

into software solutions or engineering workflows

● Strong proficiency in TypeScript and JavaScript with demonstrated experience in modern

development practices and patterns

● Extensive experience with Node.js for developing scalable, high-performance back-end

applications and RESTful APIs

● Solid experience building front-end applications with React and Next.js, including

component libraries such as MUI

● Proficiency with AWS services including Lambda, API Gateway, CloudFront, S3, SQS, IAM,

WAF, Secrets Manager, SSM, and CloudWatch

● Proficiency with infrastructure as code using AWS CDK and SAM/CloudFormation to

provision and manage cloud resources

● Experience implementing API security patterns including Lambda authorizers, JWT

authentication, API keys, and usage plans

● Comprehensive experience with testing frameworks and tools including Jest, Playwright,

and Cypress (unit, integration, and e2e)

● Demonstrated expertise in API documentation and testing using Swagger/OpenAPI and

Postman

● Experience with CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions and DevOps practices for

automating build, test, and deployment processes

● Experience working in monorepo setups using Turborepo with npm workspaces or Yarn

● Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to debug complex, distributed

systems

● Experience with database design, optimization, and management

● Excellent English communication skills with the ability to articulate technical concepts to

both technical and non-technical stakeholders

● Experience with Amazon OpenSearch or OpenSearch Serverless is a plus

● Experience with PHP 8.x and Drupal 10, including SAML SSO, PHPUnit, PHPStan, and PHPCS, is

a plus

● Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and Helm is a plus

● Experience with Storybook, Artillery, LaunchDarkly, FullStory, New Relic, or Pantheon is a plus

● Experience working with international clients in a distributed or remote team setup is a

plus
