Redline Automotive Merchandising
About Redline
Redline Automotive Merchandising is an established leader in automotive merchandising, inventory management, and dealership technology solutions. Operating across multiple states, we provide automotive retailers with the technology, data, and services needed to manage vehicle inventory, improve operational efficiency, and strengthen their digital presence.
As we continue to invest in our proprietary technology, we are seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineer - Full-Stack to take ownership of the ongoing development, maintenance, and expansion of our software platform.
Position Overview
We are looking for a highly skilled, hands-on Senior Software Engineer to serve as our primary internal technical resource, responsible for the architecture, development, performance, and reliability of our proprietary software platform.
This position combines full-stack software engineering with technical ownership and coordination of external development resources. Working alongside an experienced technology consultant, this individual will help establish development priorities, guide technical decisions, oversee outside development partners, and ensure the successful delivery of new features and platform improvements.
The ideal candidate is an experienced engineer who can independently design and develop software, understand complex systems, solve technical challenges, and take responsibility for the long-term health of an established application.
This is a hands-on engineering position, not a traditional management role. The successful candidate will be expected to write code, make sound architectural decisions, and oversee technical work completed by external resources.
Key Responsibilities
Software Engineering & Platform Ownership
- Serve as the primary internal engineer responsible for the development, maintenance, and technical health of the company's proprietary software platform.
- Design, develop, test, and deploy scalable full-stack applications and platform enhancements.
- Maintain and improve existing application architecture, databases, APIs, integrations, and backend services.
- Develop solutions supporting automotive inventory management, merchandising, data processing, operational workflows, and reporting.
- Evaluate existing code and infrastructure to identify opportunities for improved performance, reliability, security, and scalability.
- Troubleshoot complex application and system issues and implement long-term solutions.
- Establish and maintain engineering best practices, including documentation, version control, testing, and deployment processes.
- Balance ongoing maintenance, technical debt, and platform stability with new feature development.
Technical Leadership & External Resource Coordination
- Work closely with an external technology consultant to evaluate architecture, prioritize development initiatives, and guide technical direction.
- Coordinate and oversee external developers, contractors, and technology vendors.
- Translate business requirements into technical specifications, development tasks, and project deliverables.
- Review externally developed code for quality, security, maintainability, and compatibility with existing systems.
- Monitor development progress, identify technical roadblocks, and ensure projects are delivered successfully.
- Maintain consistency in coding standards, technical documentation, and development practices across internal and external resources.
- Take ownership of integrating and maintaining work completed by outside development partners.
Architecture, Integrations & Innovation
- Help guide the technical architecture and long-term scalability of the platform.
- Design and maintain integrations with third-party applications, data providers, and external systems.
- Develop and optimize data processing, synchronization, and automation workflows.
- Collaborate with company leadership to evaluate business requirements and recommend practical technical solutions.
- Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency, data accuracy, and user experience.
- Evaluate and implement emerging technologies, including AI-assisted development, intelligent automation, and AI-powered application capabilities.
- Support the development of new software capabilities and future technology initiatives.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of professional software engineering or full-stack development experience.
- Strong proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript and modern web application development.
- Experience developing production applications using React, Node.js, or comparable frameworks.
- Strong understanding of software architecture, application design, and scalable system development.
- Experience designing, maintaining, and optimizing relational databases and SQL queries.
- Demonstrated experience developing REST APIs and integrating third-party services.
- Experience with cloud-hosted applications, infrastructure, and production deployments.
- Proficiency with Git, code reviews, debugging, testing, and modern engineering workflows.
- Proven ability to independently own and maintain complex production software applications.
- Experience reviewing or coordinating development work performed by external engineers or contractors.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and technical decision-making skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and nontechnical stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Next.js and modern TypeScript-based application architectures.
- Familiarity with AWS, Azure, or comparable cloud infrastructure.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, and application monitoring.
- Experience with data-intensive applications, ETL processes, and complex system integrations.
- Knowledge of AI integration, LLM-based applications, workflow automation, and AI-assisted engineering tools.
- Experience working with SaaS products, automotive technology, dealership management systems, or inventory management applications.
- Previous experience as a senior engineer, technical lead, or primary engineer responsible for an established software platform.
- Experience modernizing legacy applications and improving existing software architecture.
What We're Looking For
We are seeking an engineer who combines strong hands-on development skills with the technical judgment and independence needed to take ownership of an established software platform.
The right candidate will be comfortable working as the primary internal engineer, collaborating with an external consultant, and coordinating additional development resources as needed.
This individual should be equally capable of developing new features, diagnosing complex technical issues, reviewing external code, evaluating architectural decisions, and ensuring the platform remains reliable and maintainable.
We value engineers who are resourceful, accountable, practical, and capable of balancing immediate business needs with long-term technical considerations.
