About the Role

We're looking for a senior quality engineer who writes code first and tests second, someone who can own the full testing picture for a product where mistakes cost real money. You'll set the test approach, build the automation behind it, and help engineering teams catch problems long before customers ever see them.

Our client is a growth-stage consumer fintech with a large, active customer base. Their engineering org treats quality as a shared responsibility, and this hire will help shape the standards and tooling every team relies on. We're filling two of these seats.

What You'll Do

• Own test planning for new features, with a focus on what breaks under real-world conditions: odd inputs, partial failures, heavy load
• Write and maintain automated suites at every layer, from service-level API tests to browser-based end-to-end flows
• Check both sides of every change: does it work as specified, and does it solve the problem it was meant to solve
• Dig into escaped defects, find the root cause, and close the gap so the same class of bug doesn't come back
• Get involved at the design stage with engineering and product, not just at the end of a sprint
• Bring AI tooling into your day-to-day testing and debugging, and review its output as carefully as any pull request
• Keep the pipeline fast by cutting flaky tests and shortening feedback loops
• Coach other engineers on writing better tests

Qualifications

• 8+ years in software testing, test automation, or SDET roles, with clear ownership of quality on production systems
• Solid coding ability; TypeScript or JavaScript is a strong plus
• Deep familiarity with the full testing pyramid: unit, integration, contract, regression, and end-to-end
• Hands-on experience with a modern browser automation framework (Playwright, Cypress, Selenium, or similar)
• Experience running tests inside CI/CD and managing test data, fixtures, and mocks
• Practical experience using AI assistants in testing work
• Comfort working with incomplete requirements and making sound calls anyway
• A history of mentoring or leveling up teammates
• US work authorization required; this role cannot sponsor visas
