About the Company

We are an Intelligent Computing company operating at the forefront of Artificial General Intelligence Research and Development. Our mission is to build the perfect tools for the Human Mind. Ren is pioneering a new approach to building intelligent computing systems, based on an entirely new framework for Machine Learning called the Universal State Machine (USM). The USM enables a new kind of intelligent system; one that is not built on the primitives of Deep Learning, and does not come with its inherent limitations.

The Opportunity

The Universal State Machine development is a completely novel computational architecture, it is not being pursued by any other labs or companies. This makes this position the only place on earth where this specific opportunity is available.

As a senior software engineer serving to build Ren Infrastructure, you will report directly to the CEO, Rukmal Weerawarana. You will work in tandem with our Machine Learning Infrastructure team. Your primary goal is to build the USM kernel and related tools which powers the Research team. You will be working on high performance systems which enable faster execution of USM on general purpose computing hardware. To accelerate your work, you will have full access to the suite of tools, modules, and infrastructure developed by our internal engineers.

Initial Deliverables and Research Goals

You will spearhead the effort to formalize the theoretical underpinnings of our technology. The following deliverables build on one another from a research perspective:

• Core Formulation: Building and maintaining core kernel software stack.
• USM Exploration: Gaining insight into higher-level details of the USM usage and work on performance improvements, integration tests and regression testing.
• Engineering Insights: Advocating potential improvements to the USM core kernel software stack.

Required Technical Capabilities

• A strong grasp of low level software development practices.
• Proficiency in building high performance compute engines.
• Proficiency in data structures and parallel algorithms.
• Fluency in compute workloads in machine learning applications.
• Well developed reasoning skills, especially around designing high performance systems.
• The ability to understand user requirements efficiently and improve the kernel functionality.
• Are curious, technically sound, and high performing in open-ended challenges.
• Fluency in using issue management tools.

Required Personal Qualities

• Be excited about and willing to work incredibly hard to build the next generation of Artificial Intelligence.
• Be engaged and motivated by very hard technical challenges.
• A preference for learning and mastering new frameworks over relying on established industry norms.
• Incredibly high attention to detail.
• A drive for great craftsmanship and an intolerance for technical mediocrity.
• Proven ability to build low level systems with state of the art technology and development practices.
• Advocate the improvement of kernel and adjacent software stack.
• Lead a team to get a project from the ground up to a deliverable product.

Ideal Candidate

• Advanced degree in Computer Science.
• Strong computer programming skills along with adopting new technologies swiftly.
• Experience working with Rust or C++.
• Thrives in a high-agency environment with a lot of freedom to create and explore.
• Proven track record of high performance software development and maintenance.
• Experience with parallel computing and scaling applications.
• Must have worked a minimum of 5-7 years in software development.
