Senior Software Engineer – Innovation

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Full-Stack Software Engineer to join our internal innovation team and drive improvements across the platform — from internal tooling and process automation to innovative prototypes that need proving and solve long-standing problems in innovative ways.

You will spend time working out what is actually worth building, then building it to a technical standard where it survives contact with production. Much of the value in this role comes from identifying opportunities, shaping solutions and showcasing that a problem is worth solving.

Responsibilities

• Identify, scope and deliver improvements across the platform, including work you identify and propose yourself.
• Build internal tooling and automation that removes recurring manual effort from other teams.
• Prototype quickly to test an idea, then make a clear-eyed call on whether to harden it, hand it over or kill it.
• Build AI-assisted features and workflows where they genuinely solve a problem — including LLM integrations, agents and automated workflows — with a realistic view of cost, latency, failure modes, security and evaluation.
• Improve developer experience, including build times, deployment friction, observability and local environment setup.
• Take on technical debt and reliability work that has been sitting too long.
• Deliver end to end across C# / .NET and React / Next.js without waiting on another team.
• Work across different streams and codebases, earning trust in systems you did not originally build.
• Use agentic development tooling such as Claude Code, Curson and Codex as a core part of how you deliver, with the judgement to know when to rely on it, when not to, and how to validate what it produces.

What We’re Looking For

• Strong experience delivering and operating production software as a senior engineer.
• Strong full-stack capability, ideally across C# / .NET and modern React / Next.js applications.
• Practical experience using AI in software engineering — both integrating AI capabilities into products and using AI-assisted development tools effectively.
• Experience working with LLMs, APIs, agents, structured outputs, tool use or AI-powered workflows, with an understanding of their practical limitations.
• Strong product and engineering judgement: the ability to turn an ambiguous problem into something testable, decide what is worth building and avoid unnecessary complexity.
• Comfortable owning work end to end, from initial exploration and prototyping of greenfield projects, through implementation, deployment and production support.
• Able to work effectively in unfamiliar codebases and collaborate across multiple teams.
• Curious and pragmatic, with a bias towards solving real problems rather than adopting technology for its own sake.

How We Work

We work in small, focused streams with real ownership. Engineers shape work rather than receive tickets. We deploy frequently and expect people to own what they ship into production.

Our stack is C# / .NET and React / Next.js, running across on-prem infrastructure and managed cloud services.

We use agentic development tooling heavily — Claude Code and similar tools — and expect you to be fluent with it. We are equally interested in your judgement about these tools: where they accelerate you, where you deliberately don't use them, and how you review and validate what they produce before it reaches a customer.

To be clear about the emphasis: this is a software engineering role first. We are hiring for demonstrated delivery of production systems. Strong AI capability is increasingly part of how the work gets done, and sometimes part of what gets built — but we are looking for an excellent full-stack engineer who knows how to apply AI effectively, not someone who only knows how to build AI demos.
