(Senior) Software Engineer - Kotlin/Java/ AWS (m|w|d)

As part of our Clickout-to-Revenue team, you’ll work at the heart of our business model: merchants pay for qualified referrals (“clickouts”) to their shops. Your work ensures that this monetization process runs reliably, efficiently, and transparently from a technical perspective – making a significant contribution to idealo’s growth.

About your new role

End-to-End Ownership

• You develop and operate business and web applications in the AWS cloud.
• Together with your team, you take ownership of the entire lifecycle following our “You Build It, You Own It” (YBYO) approach – from architecture, infrastructure, development, testing, and security to deployment, monitoring, on-call, and maintenance.

Product Focus: Monetization Processes & Services

• You develop services that support the implementation and billing of our business models. Key components include the Odoo ERP system, internal tools for master data management, and integrations with Salesforce and SAP.
• Innovative business models require innovative solutions. That’s why you work closely with stakeholders across Accounting, Sales, Account Management, and other cross-functional engineering teams.

Technical Excellence

• You actively contribute ideas to improve our processes, care about high code quality, and continuously develop your skills. We support your growth through a range of learning and development opportunities.

Skills & Requirements

Must-haves

• 7+ years of experience developing web applications, including at least 5 years working with Kotlin and/or Java.
• Strong knowledge of AWS architecture and Infrastructure as Code (e.g. Terraform).
• Solid knowledge of relational databases (e.g. PostgreSQL, MySQL) as well as event messaging, event streaming, and asynchronous communication (e.g. Aiven Kafka).
• You embrace end-to-end ownership and can communicate technical concepts clearly, including to non-technical stakeholders.
• You enjoy working collaboratively, sharing knowledge, giving constructive feedback, and actively contributing through pair programming, code reviews, and collaborative problem-solving.

Nice-to-haves

• German language skills.
• Experience working with ERP systems or in accounting or finance-related environments.
• Experience developing Lambda functions for use cases such as data processing using Python or TypeScript.
