What they need

Get to know the role

NETLOCK's certificate authority is the system behind every qualified certificate we issue - the platform that decides what a signature is actually worth. It has recently been modernised and now runs on Kubernetes. You'll own where it goes from here: the architecture, the reliability, and the cryptographic stack it's built on. This is a backend role, written in C, Go and Perl . We don't expect all three on day one - we expect real strength in one and a genuine willingness to work across the rest. You'll develop the CA system and the independent services around it, work directly with hardware security modules and the interfaces connecting them to our services, and make architectural decisions in a system where correctness is the product. There is some web-related work, but it isn't the focus. You'll join a small, senior-leaning team that owns what it ships, from design through production. Cryptography and PKI (Public Key Infrastructure) experience is welcome, but it isn't a prerequisite: the domain is learnable, and we'll help you get there. What we can't teach is the appetite for taking long-term responsibility for a system rather than just delivering features into it.

What we offer?

  • You will be part of a young, supportive, and dynamic team where junior and more experienced colleagues collaborate closely, support each other, and openly share their knowledge and experience.
  • You will work in a modern technology environment where you can freely use the latest tools, technologies, and AI-driven solutions to support your work and drive innovation.
  • To make your workdays more enjoyable, we provide unlimited coffee so you can recharge during breaks and informal moments with your colleagues.
  • We offer a competitive and above-market salary that reflects your expertise, performance, and the energy you invest in your work.
  • In addition to competitive base benefits, after successfully completing your probation period you will also receive a high-value cafeteria benefits package that can be flexibly tailored to your personal needs and lifestyle.
  • The health and well-being of our employees is important to us, which is why after your probation period we provide a comprehensive private health insurance package, allowing you to focus on your work while feeling secure in your everyday life.
  • In this role, you can expect a high degree of autonomy, giving space for initiative and ownership, while also offering opportunities for rapid professional growth and continuous learning.

As a member of our team, you will be responsible for:

  • Own the PKI services end to end - architecture, development, maintenance, and how they behave in production.
  • Develop the certificate authority system and the independent services around it.
  • Keep the cryptographic stack current and lead upgrades to supported, long-term versions.
  • Work directly with hardware security modules and the interfaces connecting them to our services.
  • Make architectural decisions in a security-critical system and see them through to production.
  • Improve how we build, test, and ship - from local development to deployment.
  • Ship what you build and keep it healthy: observability, alerting, and a hand in on-call.

This opportunity is for you if you…

  • have senior-level software engineering experience, primarily in backend development, with a minimum of 3–5 years in production,
  • are strong in at least one of C, Go or Perl, and genuinely willing to learn and work in all three,
  • have experience with relational databases (we use MySQL),
  • have designed and operated systems made up of multiple independent services, and keep them correct across service boundaries,
  • take long-term responsibility for a system rather than just delivering features into it,
  • are fluent with AI-assisted coding workflows,
  • pick up new languages and unfamiliar domains quickly, and find hard problems satisfying rather than draining,
  • are a native Hungarian speaker (spoken and written) with professional English.

It’s a plus if you...

  • bring cryptography or PKI knowledge of any kind - it isn't a prerequisite, but we're glad to see it,
  • have worked with OpenSSL, hardware crypto devices, or PKCS#11,
  • are at home with Kubernetes and its surrounding tooling,
  • have built CI/CD pipelines end to end, from build to deployment across Dev, Staging and Prod,
  • have a background in a regulated, security-critical domain (e.g. eIDAS, trust services, finance),
  • are open to picking up new scripting languages.

What happens after you apply?

  • Once your application reaches us, our team carefully reviews it to see how well your experience and skills match the role.
  • If there’s a strong fit, we’ll invite you to a short introductory phone call to go through the key details and get to know each other.
  • As a next step, you’ll be invited to a personal interview with our HR team and the hiring manager. This is a great opportunity for you to learn more about the role, the team, and ask any questions about the day-to-day work.

Who we are?

We are a global trust-technology company with more than 25 years of experience in digital identity, advanced cryptography, and qualified trust services. Originating in Hungary and operating internationally with offices in Florida, US and Budapest, HU, we combine European regulatory strength with global reach.

Our team includes one of the region’s largest groups of PKI specialists, cryptographers, and security engineers, experts who have helped shaping the foundations of modern digital trust. As one of Europe’s earliest Qualified Trust Service Providers, we pioneered solutions in electronic signatures, identity verification, cryptographic infrastructure, and content authenticity.

Today, we enable organizations not only to verify identities and sign securely, but to trust their digital world in a way that was never possible before. At the heart of this leap forward is our world-first twin-engine solution: the fusion of C2PA provenance and qualified electronic signatures. This breakthrough creates a verifiable chain of trust for any digital asset, from documents to images to complex media, redefining what authenticity means in the age of AI. It elevates our long-standing trust-service foundations into a new standard for digital truth.

As technology evolves, we are committed to integrating the latest breakthroughs in cryptography, provenance, and AI-driven verification, ensuring trust remains one step ahead of innovation. Our mission is simple: To restore trust in the digital world.
