Senior Software Engineer, Scanning Engine

For our client, we are seeking a Senior Software Engineer, Scanning Engine to join the team of a leader in the Information Technology space.

This role will focus on building and evolving high-performance backend services that support scanning workflows at scale. You will own key technical components end to end, partnering closely with security and product stakeholders to deliver reliable, scalable systems. The position requires strong systems design judgment, performance tuning, and the ability to balance speed, quality, and operational risk in a cloud-native environment.

The work will center on distributed services and APIs that must perform well under large workloads while maintaining high availability. You will also help improve code quality, guide architectural decisions, and support teammates through technical collaboration and mentorship.

Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available

Compensation: $134,600 – $199,600 annually

Responsibilities

• Own the end-to-end design and implementation of key components of the scanning engine
• Design and implement high-quality services in Python and Go for scanning workflows
• Enhance the performance and reliability of the scanning engine for large-scale workloads
• Collaborate with security and product teams to create robust systems and APIs
• Drive technical excellence in the codebase through rigorous code reviews and documentation
• Contribute to architectural decisions, balancing speed, quality, and risk
• Diagnose and resolve complex production issues related to scanning performance and stability
• Mentor and support team members through design feedback and knowledge sharing

Qualifications

• 5-7 years of experience as a Senior Software Engineer or equivalent in backend or systems-level services
• Proficient in Python and Go, with a willingness to work in both languages
• Experience in systems design for distributed or high-availability services, with a focus on scalability and reliability
• Hands-on experience with scanning or detection systems, such as vulnerability or security scanning engines
• Strong fundamentals in software engineering, including data structures and performance optimization
• Experience in a cloud-native environment, including microservices and CI/CD practices
• Proven ability to collaborate across teams and communicate technical tradeoffs effectively
