Senior Software Engineer (Simulation Infrastructure)

• Muon seeks a Senior Software Engineer to join our Simulation team
• In this role, you will be a major contributor to the best-practices and architectural direction of our Simulation tools
• You will work with your Simulation Engineer teammates to integrate our simulation models into complete products, and you’ll contribute to the design, development, and delivery of these products to stakeholders across the company
• Build and support in-house simulation services which meet the needs of stakeholder teams like business development, mission design, operations, and ground and flight software engineering
• Break down complex technical goals into detailed and well-explained proposals
• Collaborate with the team’s physical-modeling experts to integrate simulation models into complete products
• Integrate feedback from client teams to drive iterative improvements to our simulation products
• Expand test coverage by developing novel off-nominal test scenarios
• Work closely with the Software Test team to integrate simulation tools into automated testing campaigns
• Lead by example with reliable estimation and planning
• Ensure team alignment with company goals and success against performance metrics
• Mentor Simulation and Test team engineers

• Proven ability to collaborate with specialized experts to deliver complex, cross-functional products
• 8+ years’ experience as a software engineer in a team environment
• B.S. or equivalent experience in Computer Science or a related field
• Strong programming experience in Python and C++
• Excellent communication and presentation skills
• Willingness to operate in novel technical domains
• Familiarity with cloud deployment environments, like Kubernetes and virtual instances
• Experience with numerical simulation techniques
• Knowledge of the Julia language
• Fluency in statistical analysis
• Familiarity with Linux systems administration and Docker containers
• Experience with Software-in-the-Loop simulation
• Knowledge of CI/CD and DevOps best practices
• General familiarity with orbital satellite operations
