Senior Software Engineer, Storage Infrastructure

For our client, we are seeking a Senior Software Engineer, Storage Infrastructure to join the team of a leader in the Aerospace & Defense space.

This role will focus on building and operating the data storage and retrieval systems that support mission-critical software in a remote-first environment. You will partner closely with engineering teams to improve data access performance, strengthen reliability, and enhance search and image-processing workflows. The position also offers the opportunity to shape technical direction, guide architecture decisions, and contribute to the success of scalable cloud-native services.

Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available

Compensation: $116,700 – $145,900 annually

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain efficient data access systems
• Enhance internal data search and image processing services
• Optimize Elasticsearch indexing for core datasets
• Take full service ownership, including performance monitoring and incident response
• Evaluate methods and procedures for complex problem-solving
• Lead project teams and advise less experienced engineers
• Contribute to the technical roadmap and architectural direction

Qualifications

• 6-8 years of software engineering experience
• Proficient in Go, Python, or similar languages for backend services and APIs
• Experience with AI-assisted development tools in engineering workflows
• Ability to monitor and operate scalable cloud-native software
• Familiarity with both relational and non-relational datastores
• Hands-on experience in building and releasing highly available services
• Strong communication skills tailored for remote work
