About the role

We are looking for an experienced, hands-on Senior Software QA Engineer specializing in Test Automation and Performance Testing to join our Quality Assurance team. You will lead, design and maintain automated test suites, develop and execute performance tests, and investigate application performance issues across web applications, APIs, and backend services.

In addition to hands-on testing, you will provide technical guidance on automation frameworks and performance testing approaches, support other framework users, and collaborate with Development, DevOps, Infrastructure, and QA teams to improve testing effectiveness. This role combines hands-on engineering with technical ownership of assigned automation an performance testing activities.

Key Responsibilities

Test Automation

• Design, develop, and maintain automated test suites using Playwright with Java, Selenium, and relevant supporting tools.
• Maintain and enhance automation frameworks to improve reliability, maintainability, and test coverage.
• Monitor automation execution results, investigate failures, and troubleshoot issues.
• Contribute to integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins.
• Provide technical guidance and support to other users of the automation framework.
• Identify automation opportunities and recommend improvements to testing practices.

Performance Testing & Engineering

• Define and contribute to performance testing approaches for applications, APIs,
• microservices, and distributed systems.
• Design, implement, and maintain performance test suites using Apache JMeter.
• Execute load, stress, endurance/soak, spike, and scalability testing.
• Monitor application, infrastructure, and system resource metrics during performance test execution.
• Analyse performance results, identify bottlenecks, and investigate potential root causes.
• Prepare performance assessment reports with findings, risks, and actionable recommendations.
• Collaborate with Development, DevOps, and Infrastructure teams to investigate and validate performance improvements.
• Promote performance testing best practices throughout the software development lifecycle.
• Take ownership of assigned automation and performance testing activities, from planning through execution and reporting.
• Provide technical input on test design, framework improvements, and performance testing approaches.
• Support knowledge sharing and technical onboarding for engineers working with the automation framework.
• Communicate testing progress, risks, defects, and technical findings to project teams and stakeholders.
• Work independently to resolve complex testing issues and continuously improve test engineering practices.

What would you need?

• Typically 5–6+ years of software QA experience, with strong hands-on expertise in test automation and performance testing.
• Strong experience developing automated tests using Playwright and/or Selenium.
• Strong Java programming skills and knowledge of automation frameworks and testing best practices.
• Experience with Git, Jenkins pipelines/jobs, and CI/CD integration.
• Advanced hands-on experience with Apache JMeter and performance test analysis.
• Strong understanding of load, stress, endurance/soak, spike, and scalability testing.
• Experience testing REST APIs, microservices, and distributed architectures.
• Ability to monitor system resources, analyse performance bottlenecks, and provide actionable recommendations.
• Ability to work independently, take technical ownership, and guide testing activities without requiring formal people management experience.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
