Senior Software System Designer

The Software System Designer will be responsible for translating business and stakeholder requirements into detailed system designs. This role acts as a crucial link between business analysts, other stakeholders, and the software development team, ensuring that overarching end-to-end designs are accurately translated into practical, detailed designs. The successful candidate will provide technical leadership to developers and other designers, ensuring the alignment of solutions with the organization's strategic direction and architectural roadmaps.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and document solution designs across multiple technologies and products.
• Ensure a thorough understanding of system requirements and end-to-end design to produce detailed specifications.
• Adhere to system landscape, standards, legislation, and governance requirements in design processes.
• Analyze and interpret business and stakeholder requirements.
• Leverage in-depth understanding of technology and domain to create effective designs.
• Consider the operational environment and the impact of design decisions.
• Produce detailed designs that accurately reflect received requirements.
• Understand and define data requirements to support the domain.
• Provide input into system-level test plans and cases.
• Develop use cases and sequence diagrams to illustrate system behavior.
• Contribute to the realization of the organization's strategic direction and architecture.
• Collaborate effectively with key stakeholders across different teams.
• Evaluate design options, identify risks, and recommend mitigation strategies.
• Identify and develop plans to mitigate dependencies and system conflicts.
• Conduct impact analysis for proposed design changes.
• Review and interpret macro designs to ensure alignment.
• Deliver high-quality designs that incorporate testing considerations.
• Develop integration test packs.
• Assist developers with troubleshooting and resolve technical queries.
• Maintain and update technical documentation, lessons learned, and training materials in the asset knowledge base.
• Ensure work products and designs enable the fulfillment of the architectural target state.
• Support the achievement of business strategy, objectives, and values.
• Stay current with industry developments and best practices in relevant technical fields.
• Engage in continuous personal growth and development to enhance role effectiveness.

Required Skills and Qualifications

Education: Matric / Grade 12 / National Senior Certificate.

Experience: Minimum of 5 years of IT experience.
