The Enterprise Core Platform Modernization (ECPM) office within the GDS Application Environment team is seeking to hire a Senior Solutions Engineer. In this role, you will drive the technical implementation strategy for AI-assisted and agent-driven modernization workflows, build the evaluation frameworks, guardrails, and observability standards that operationalize AI output quality enterprise wide, and lead the integration of agentic AI solutions into the repeatable modernization factory to accelerate and scale modernization, including retirement and transpilation, across the organization. You will translate enterprise architectural direction into implementation ready engineering patterns and automation at scale, own delivery of complex POTs/POCs, and define best in industry standards for validation, security, resiliency, and operational observability of modernization outputs. As a senior individual contributor and technical authority, you will partner directly with senior architects, platform leadership, and vendor leadership to shape technical implementation approach, drive cross organizational alignment, mentor and develop engineers, and champion the enterprise-wide adoption of AI capabilities to accelerate and scale modernization.
About the job:
- Lead the hands-on build out, configuration, extension, and prototyping of enterprise scale modernization solutions using the agentic AI platform as it matures, providing hands on technical guidance to teams implementing agentic AI, driven workflows and other AI- based solutions across replatform and retirement efforts.
- Own the engineering integration of the agentic AI platform and other applicable AI workflows/solutions into the repeatable modernization factory, covering replatform and retirement, ensuring scalability and consistency across the enterprise.
- Define and evolve implementation ready engineering patterns, reusable templates, automation frameworks, and factory capabilities built around the agentic AI platform, establishing the standards that guide consistent execution across projects and teams.
- Act as the senior technical authority and trusted decision partner across the program, providing engineering input into technical direction in partnership with senior architects, vendor partners, security/compliance teams, and program leadership.
- Lead cloud native modernization efforts on AWS and Kubernetes (EKS or equivalent), setting standards for CI/CD of containerized applications and the integration of monitoring and security tooling for modernization outputs, including outputs from the agentic AI platform.
- Build and enforce validation, security, resiliency, and observability standards for modernization outputs, embedding them into templates, runbooks, and factory tooling.
- Proactively identify systemic technical risks, dependencies, and modernization challenges across platforms; own mitigation strategy and serve as the senior technical escalation point for critical issues.
- Continuously lead evaluation of tool/vendor options, including the agentic AI platform and emerging alternatives, designing and overseeing targeted POCs/POTs that inform ongoing enterprise level adoption decisions.
- Serve as a key technical liaison across architecture, platform engineering, security, product, and vendor teams, ensuring alignment, smooth integration, and operational readiness at scale.
- Mentor and develop engineers, lead design reviews across teams, drive the adoption of the agentic AI platform, reuse, and standardization practices, and shape the evolution of engineering practices to increase throughput and reduce modernization risk organization wide.

- Proven track record leading large scale modernization, migration, or transformation initiatives (re-platform and retirement) and owning delivery of solution artifacts such as architecture diagrams, migration runbooks, decision matrices, and POC/POT reports.
- Demonstrated ability to translate enterprise architecture and program objectives into implementation ready engineering patterns, reusable templates, and automation frameworks at scale, and mentoring others to do the same.
- Strong track record of driving technical implementation direction and influencing senior cross functional stakeholders (architects, platform teams, security/compliance, program management, and vendor leadership) without formal authority.
- Extensive experience building and enforcing validation, observability, security, and resiliency standards for automated processes, embedding those standards into pipelines, templates, and runbooks across teams.
- Deep, hands-on experience with AWS and Kubernetes in production environments (EKS or self-managed), including designing and operating containerized workloads at scale, CI/CD for Kubernetes, and integrating observability and security tooling for cloud native platforms.
- Advanced proficiency in one or more modern programming languages used for platform/tooling work (e.g., Java, Python, Node.js), with the ability to define and review integration patterns and automation standards.
- Comfort operating in an evolving environment, with experience continuously evaluating and adopting new or emerging AI/agentic tooling as options change over time.
